Earlier today, we told you about a theory doing the rounds that Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool might be hidden on the latest poster for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
If the Merc with the Mouth is being pulled into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, then it would make sense for Wade Wilson to step through a portal and into this world. According to the actor, who has been doing the rounds to promote Netflix's The Adam Project, we won't see him in Sam Raimi's highly anticipated Doctor Strange sequel.
"I'm really not in the movie," Reynolds insisted during an interview with Variety. When they put it to the actor he could be lying, he added: "I’m promising, I’m not in the movie."
We've heard that before (here's looking at you, Andrew Garfield!).
As for Deadpool 3, Reynolds was similarly noncommittal, saying only that the threequel "[is] coming along." Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin are penning the screenplay, but there's still no word on a director, so it's no real wonder the Wade Wilson actor didn't have much to share. Hopefully, he is telling a little white lie here as Deadpool showing up would be a real treat in Stephen Strange's next big screen adventure (especially with all those rumoured cameos).
Time will tell, but given the apparent serious nature of Raimi's movie, it's possible Deadpool might be too much of a distraction seeing as everywhere he goes, comedy and craziness usually follows!
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to be released in theaters on May 6.
