Rob Liefeld Didn't Want 'Cable' To Appear In DEADPOOL

We know that the time-traveling mutant known as Cable will be making his big screen debut in Deadpool 2, but he could've easily appeared in the first film. So, why didn't he? Apparently, it's thanks to Rob Liefeld.

During the end credits of Deadpool, the Merc With a Mouth spoke to the audience and revealed which beloved comic book character would be joining him in the sequel. The announcement of Cable making an appearance in the next film has only made fans even more excited for Deadpool 2. But before the film even premiered, many fans were hoping to catch a glimpse of the time-traveling mutant in Deadpool, however, according to Deadpool and Cable creator Rob Liefeld, he recommended that Cable should be left out of the first film.

"I absolutely recommended that they not include Cable in the origin story of Deadpool because it wasn’t necessary," said Liefeld. "That was on the table of things that were being considered, and I felt like, ‘No, no, no.’ Deadpool is a good enough character. He can carry his own movie and doesn’t need Cable. Similarly, it’s a mistake I believe that Batman v Superman made. They tried to do too many things at once and tell too many stories."

The writer then spoke about how introducing different characters into Deadpool should be done in a more Marvel Cinematic Universe fashion. "Where Deadpool came out, [it] gave you this story, and I think they are somewhat following what I’m referencing as the Marvel strategy. Maybe the next movie -- Iron Man 2 gave us Black Widow, and started building. And Cap 2 gave us Black Widow, Falcon, and Winter Soldier, you know? I believe that the fact that we’ve got the opportunity to build now on what Deadpool… OK, this is corny, they can build on the cable they laid with Deadpool, in the first movie, you know? Those are strong tracks, and so now they continue to build out on that." Do you think Cable should've appeared in Deadpool?

...Isn't that exactly what Batman v Superman did? Seeing as it's a sequel to Man of Steel, and then introduced Batman and Wonder Woman to an already established Superman...

He's right though. Deadpool was more or less the perfect version of what that film could've been, and adding Cable would been a distraction.

However, on the behalf of BvS it was a sequel rather than an origin movie. But I still completely get what he's saying here. For me personally BvS could've just been a straight up page from page adaption of TDKR. But it would've felt a little too much like a Batman movie so I understand that there were changes that needed to be made. They could've took out Doomsday and just had the finale end with the final fight between Batman and Superman or even the both of them teaming up to stop Metallo or something more grounded. Wonder Woman was eye candy to see as was her fighting and more but she could've been left out or just a cameo from her war photos. There's a lot that film got right and also a lot it got wrong but at the end of the day it was a descent film for me.

Nonetheless you all stayed for Deadpool ending yes: yes; and now you can see how stupid it is the studious make you wait for ever to see 2 second glimp of next movie! I waited to see through so many Germans in a movie titled Captain America to see 30 seconds Spiderman playing with a watch! "No more mutants"; no for now no more end credits!!
