Rob Liefeld Offers More Hopeful News On DEADPOOL

Earlier today we had word from director Tim Miller on the status of the Deadpool movie. Now Liefeld also weighs in, says biggest roadblock at Fox is now gone and he's already met with Mark Millar.

Well, that's a bit more encouraging. Earlier today (click the link above) director Tim Miller provided an update that virtually meant nothing is happening with Deadpool at the moment. Well, Deadpool creator Robert Liefeld has chimed in with more upbeat news, stating that the departure of former Fox CEO Tom Rothman is one obstacle down on the path to bringing Wade Wilson to movie screens across the world. Liefeld also says that he's already met with Mark Millar & Tim Miller to discuss the project. Liefeld event went as far as re-tweeing a comment that says Deadpool will show up in X-Men: Days of Future Past! Are we seeing the first tentative steps towards seeing Deadpool ( I refuse to acknowledge the aberration we saw in X-Men Origins: Wolverine) on the silver screen?

the deadpool movie is a double edged sword.on one side i want the deadpool movie but on the other side fox could f*ck it up,we all know what their track record is like with comic book movies.

"I think the success of the Deadpool game will help immensely and get the Deadpool film a green light. It's going to be HUGE"

Provided that the game is successful.

The most successful thing Marvel and Fox can do is get Liefeld the [frick] away from this movie.

Well if you read the script for it, it was incredibly promising but not only that keep in mind that Tom Rothman(the reason for that track record) is no longer at FOX.

Most importan factors we're dealing with here; success of:

1) the Deadpool game
2) the RIPD (Reynolds' next comic book movie)
3) The Goon (if it gets made)

If FOX are smart enough, they'll include Deadpool in "X-Men: Days of the Future Past". That way the character will get popular again, people will start talking and the Deadpool movie will be next logical step.

@ sweetre15

yeah i've read the script & it was fantastic but because it was leaked online i don't think they'll use it.

we'll have to wait & see how this turns out.

If they make this, it should be without Ryan Reynolds... then, he can say the line about looking like Ryan Reynolds, and that would be hilarious (and a nice dig into Ryan's ego!). Right now, I can live without it, though... plenty of characters in the Marvel Universe to bring to the screen.

Liefeld did not create The Merc with a Mouth. He created Deadpool but other writers turned him into what he is.

It would be cool if Deadpool did make a cameo in X-Men DOFP.

I'm beginning to see a pattern. It's like we get Deadpool news in big clumps, but then nothing for a long time. What gives?

Agreed that the Deadpool game with definitely contribute to how/when the movie comes along. And those other factors (RIPD and the Goon) might be the death of this movie, or at least push it back even further than it may be.

I like seeing all this Deadpool stuff, though. Brightened up my Friday.

Every one always complains about FOX, and ya, fox SUCKS! heres a perfect example,,,, Deadpool in Days of Futures Past. I love Deadpool, love him, but I dont want him in Days. Fox may do it right and have a cool cameo that fits. Or they might just shove him in there to make him "popular". Frustrating.
