Disney is planning to kick-off the holiday season with a re-release of the biggest movie of 2017 so far. Beauty and the Beast is being brought back to the big screen for a week-long run in two U.S. theatres, AMC Century City in Los Angeles and AMC Empire 25 in New York.

The Bill Condon-directed film stars Emma Watson as Belle, an independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a Beast (Dan Stevens) in his castle. After facing her fears, Belle manages to get to know the Beast and tries to bring out the Prince within him.

The movie also stars Luke Evans as Gaston; Kevin Kline as Maurice; Josh Gad as LeFou; Ewan McGregor as Lumière; Stanley Tucci as Maestro Cadenza; Audra McDonald as Madame de Garderobe; Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Plumette; Hattie Morahan as the enchantress; Ian McKellen as Cogsworth; and Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts.

The films was well-received by critics, and raked in over $1 billion worldwide at the box office. The movie is the highest grossing live-action movie musical in history.

Following the success of this film and last year’s The Jungle Book, Disney is also planning on releasing more new adaptations of their classic films, with The Lion King and Aladdin coming to theatres in 2019.

This is not going to be a popular opinion but... I'd argue the cgi on Beast was almost comparable to Steppenwolf, and for me.. that was enough to pull me out of both films

An actor in makeup will always trump cgi.. for now.

@BigMikeReviews - I didn't think it was that great either... but not Steppenwolf level bad

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - Same. Why would you want to watch a worse version of the exact same movie.

This film was ok but I would’ve preferred Del Toro directed it

I love how CGI perfection is now the standard. CBM neckbeards everywhere are now crying about the Beast and Steppenwolf cause they "took them out of the movie". Really? You can't manage a little escapism without absolute life-like renderings? God forbid they have to watch an old black and white sometime, it might send them to their safe space.
