Deadline reports that Disney are moving ahead with The Beast, a live action retelling of the classic Beauty and the Beast fairy tale. The studio has chosen Joe Ahearne to pen the script, with the most recent credit on his resume being the brilliant looking Trance from director Danny Boyle. The site adds that the movie will more than likely be 3D (hardly a surprise), while it will apparently be produced by Mandeville’s David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman with Disney's LouAnne Brickhouse steering the project. This remake joins Kenneth Branagh's Cinderella. The last we heard about that project was the news that Emma Watson is in talks to star. Stay tuned for further details!

@dellamorte1872

Strongly agreed my brotha! I would love to see Del Toro's actual make-up costuming for the character and not just some giant CGI motion captured Beast.

Del Toro's costume make-up is by far some of the best!!

Such a good movie. I have high hopes for this remake. Emma Watson would be perfect for Belle, but the tone has to be right.

This will succeed because it has a built in audience and its gaining a good cast. I really want to see this since Beauty and the Beast is my 2nd favorite Disney movie.

I absolutely dislike the 90's Disney version. Hopefully, this one is much much better. I enjoyed Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, I though Oz was pretty good, had potential to be better. Hell of a lot better than The Wizard of Oz.

Live action LION KING alredy exists. It's called National Geographic.

Depending on the cast and the effects, I wouldn't mind seeing this at all.

It's not a remake, it's a live action adaptation. The story is over 100 years old for crissakes.

This could be pretty cool. I would love it if Disney made it more dark like the book. I could see it being really great if Disney gave the go ahead for it being PG-13. That sadly won't happen.

I so want to see a beautiful Beast. One that looks like an awesome Beast. I loved this movie when I was a kid in the 90s. Same with many of Disney's other movies like Aladdin & Lion King.

I would like to see after this movie comes out Disney to look at the awesome Beast & see that Gargoyles should be next.

You can't say that would not be awesome. Let Guillermo del Toro do it. Disney can sit back & collect the cash. It would be their own movie like the Lord of the Rings.

Agree with BlackIceJoe

It would be so [frick]ing awesome if Del Toro would direct this film and Disney gives him free hands.
Movie version closer to the original tale would be my way to go. :)
Disney produced Pirates of the Caribbean so the movie ending up little bit dark could happen.

And Gargoyles... That needs to [frick]ing happen too Disney!
