Principal photography on the live-action adventure/fantasy Peter Pan & Wendy is currently taking place in Vancouver, Canada, and we now have a first look at Jude Law's villainous Captain Hook.

His costume quite clearly pays homage to the version of the character we saw in Disney's original animated feature, though the actor hasn't dyed his hair black (which really isn't the end of the world).

Law has made a huge impact in the blockbuster realm in recent years, playing Albus Dumbledore in the Fantastic Beasts franchise and another villain, Yon-Rogg, in Captain Marvel

Based on J. M. Barrie's novel Peter and Wendy, and inspired by the 1953 animated classic, Peter Pan & Wendy is the timeless tale of a young girl who, defying her parents’ wishes to attend boarding school, travels with her two younger brothers to the magical Neverland. There, she meets a boy who refuses to grow up, a tiny fairy and an evil pirate captain, and they soon find themselves on a thrilling and dangerous adventure far, far away from their family and the comforts of home.

The rest of the movie's impressive cast includes Yara Shahidi (Grown-ish) as Tinkerbell; Ever Anderson (Black Widow) as Wendy; Alexander Molony (The Reluctant Landlord) as Peter Pan; Molly Parker (House of Cards) as Mrs. Darling; Alan Tudyk (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) as Mr. Darling; newcomers Joshua Pickering as John; Jacobi Jupe as Michael and Alyssa Wapanatâhk as Tiger Lily; and Jim Gaffigan (The Jim Gaffigan Show) as Smee.

We don't have a confirmed release date just yet, but Peter Pan & Wendy is expected to hit Disney+ sometime in 2022. Take a closer look at Captain Hook by heading over to Mail Online.

Wonder why they cast 2 different actors for the father and hook. Traditionally they are played by the same actor. They did it in the 2003 version (best version) and the original disney version

@dracula - normally I'd say it's because they wanna go in a different direction that's potentially more interesting, but this is a live action disney remake. They clearly just don't understand the point.

@dracula - They probably used the same actors as Hook and the father as a nod to the old stage adoptions where they did the same.
It is however not necessary to do it as the characters are two completely different persons. Assuming that Neverland is a real place in the story and not a dream that the cbildren make up similar to Alice and Wonderland, the inhabitants wouldn't be based on people like their father that they know in reality.

@ChrisRed - Yeah, like you said. The whole idea is that Neverland is a metaphor for growing up and not a real place, hence why they put their father in the role of Hook.

But I know other people have interpreted it as being a real place.

@dracula - It's pretty amazing how well the 2003 version has stood up. It feels like we get a new Peter Pan adaptation every other year now.

Wonder how they will portray the native american tribe.

One things for sure they wont be singing what makes the red man red.

@dracula - They might just write them out completely like they did with the crows from Dumbo.

@dracula -
Either they will cut out the role completely, or they will use it to show the villainy of Hook.

Why does anyone keep remaking these movies?

@JustAChillFan -
Cause it makes money. Stop giving them money and the remarks will stop.

The majority of the live action remakes are crap but there are a few gems such as the Jungle Book.

I'm interested in this because it's David Lowery and his Pete's Dragon adaptation was amazing.

Hard pass on this movie

I can't say I'm a hard pass until I've seen trailers, but I do believe this story has been exhausted. How many times are we going to revisit this "fairy tale" with a different look and feel? RUBIO!!!!!!!
