After starring in Captain America: The First Avenger and ABC's short-lived Agent Carter, Hayley Atwell's Peggy Carter quickly became one of the MCU's most beloved characters.
Following a series of cameo appearances in movies like Ant-Man and Avengers: Endgame, Atwell was given the opportunity to put her spin on Captain Carter, a Peggy Variant, in the animated What If...? and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. A version of Peggy who took the Super Soldier Serum in Captain America's place, the Variant has been a hit with fans.
Talking to MTV News while doing the rounds to promote Pixar's Lightyear, Evans was asked for his thoughts on seeing his old co-star suit up in the Doctor Strange sequel. "I haven't seen it yet, but I heard it," he responds in the video below. "I mean, she's perfect for it."
"She's truly just one of the best actresses I've ever worked with and just one of the loveliest humans," the Captain America actor continued. "So I couldn't be happier for her."
We anticipate seeing Captain Carter's story continue in What If...? season 2, though it doesn't sound like Evans is in a rush to join her by wielding his own shield again. During a recent interview with ComicBook.com, the actor said that any sort of return "would have to be perfect" and pointed out that to "revisit it, it would be a tall order."
With Lightyear underperforming at the box office this weekend, chances are Evans won't return to that franchise for a sequel, but it's well worth checking out if you haven't already.
"Throw any preconceived notions you may have out the window because Lightyear is the best animated movie of the year and a dazzling sci-fi escapade with a performance from Chris Evans that will leave you buzzing," we said in our recent review of Lightyear.
