DOCTOR STRANGE 2 Fan-Art Imagines Eva Green As Nightmare - Could The Role Be Gender-Switched?

We still don't know for certain that Nightmare is going to be the villain for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but this new piece of fan-art imagines how Eva Green would look as the character.

By MarkCassidy - Aug 01, 2019 04:08 AM EST
Nightmare still hasn't been officially confirmed as the villain for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but director Scott Derrickson and co-writer C. Robert Cargill have both dropped strong hints that he will be introduced in the sequel.

Now, Boss Logic has shared some new artwork which imagines Eva Green (Dumbo, 300: Rise of an Empire) as the fiendish Fear Lord alongside Benedict Cumberbatch as The Sorcerer Supreme, and Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff. He's also heard a rumor that she might actually be up for the role.

That's news to us, but BL has shared some solid info in the past (he was the first to mention Robert Pattinson as being a contender for Batman), so you never know.

At the very least, it might confirm that Marvel is planning to gender-switch the character.

What do you guys think? Are you open to the idea of Eva Green playing Nightmare? Drop us a comment in the usual place.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness arrives in theaters on May 7, 2021.

He actually made a good piece for once?... Is he ok?

@BritishMonkey - I know everyone likes to hate on him and his work, but he genuinely seems like a nice guy. My opinion of him changed a bit after seeing how grateful he is/was to have achieved "minor fame".

This interview is from SDCC this year, worth a watch:

@L0RDbuckethead - He looks like Sam from GoT

@DnA - If you watch the full interview, he actually mentions that people on the floor at SDCC would stop him and want to take pictures with him because they thought he was John Bradley (Samwell Tarly).

@L0RDbuckethead - He wasn't how I imagined him to be at all.
Nothing against him personally at all or who he is, but he can do better with his work and needs to. All I'd like to see.

@BritishMonkey - Definitely. His "professional" work is full of amateur mistakes.

@L0RDbuckethead - Yea I'm not sure why so many people up here have such hatred towards him. My guess is because he is a geek who ACTUALLY became successful from his love of comics/sci fi, Idk. His stuff is pretty good to me though.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but Nightmare is an abstract, incorporeal being... would gender even apply in this case? I do like the casting choice.

Ryguy88 - 8/1/2019, 5:33 AM
@Reverend - well, assuming they cast a human, it's going to have to

Why is this being reported?

(Good choice though)

@DnA - Because this site has for some reason made it their mission to publish a news story every time BossLogic creates a bit of fan art. Never anyone else's fan art, just BossLogic.

Best option is Helena Bonham Carter. Also, it would be great to have her in the MCU.

It makes me happy that no one has come here to whine about gender swapping (yet).

Also, this is some really cool art. I'm excited for official news on this movie!

POS.
This isn't art, it's Photoshopped.
Anyone in the country can do this.

Come on, when you have art worthy of a Bob Peak or Amsel, let us know. Otherwise don't bother us with this nonsense.

@Tonic24k - oh come on. He clearly has a point. Next thing you're gonna tell me is that Michelangelo is a good artist when all his work is just paint on a surface. Anyone can put paint on a surface.

@rocketeuropa - So is creating things in Photoshop somehow not considered art?
OptionFour

@rocketeuropa - What a weird line to draw. So art created with computers doesn't count?
You better brace yourself then. I've got some pretty startling news about how they do CGI in all your favourite movies . . .

I have no problem with A genderswitched Nightmare and Eva Green would be awesome.

That said, wouldn't someone like Shuma-Gorath be a better villain for the movie? He fits both the horror and Multiverse of Madness themes perfectly.

Perhaps we'll get both with Shuma-Gorath being a surprise.

Manmarvel
Manmarvel - 8/1/2019, 5:31 AM
@ChrisRed - I agree but we need a human sized threat to ground the series imo. This would be a great tease for the third though.
Bucht
Bucht - 8/1/2019, 11:51 PM
@ChrisRed - I'd be surprised of Shuma-Gorath wasn't in this in one form or another.

So I read the article and was like yeah not against switching certain villains out but did not recognize her from the pic, after looking her up, I not only love her work but think she would be perfect!!!!

I think some characters in the MCU could be played by both genders as those characters may appear differently depending on how they want to be perceived in a given situation. I could understand characters such as Nightmare and Mephisto being played by more than one actor to this end.

Nightmare may assume features of whatever would be more intimidating to one person, or more unassuming and disarming to another. As long as I get to see "some" scene with the original version, I'd be ok with it.
