Another international TV spot for Marvel's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has been shared online, and this latest promo for Sam Raimi's mind-bending sequel packs in quite a bit of new footage.
Up until now, we haven't really seen (or heard) very much from new MCU recruit America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez), but the reality-hopping hero gets the spotlight here as she takes the (former) Sorcerer Supreme (Benedict Cumberbatch) on a little trip through the multiverse.
A scene with Chavez, who is expected to be portrayed as an openly gay character, mentioning her "two moms" resulted in Saudi Arabia effectively banning Doctor Strange 2 when Disney refused to cut/edit the exchange. They may still relent, but we can't see it happening after a similar situation arose with Eternals last year.
In Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the MCU unlocks the Multiverse and pushes its boundaries further than ever before. Journey into the unknown with Doctor Strange, who, with the help of mystical allies both old and new, traverses the mind-bending and dangerous alternate realities of the Multiverse to confront a mysterious new adversary.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, with Michael Stühlbarg, and Rachel McAdams. The film is directed by Sam Raimi, and Kevin Feige is the producer. Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Eric Hauserman Carroll and Jamie Christopher serve as executive producers. The screenplay was written by Michael Waldron.
The Doctor Strange sequel releases in U.S. theaters on May 6, 2022.
