DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS Star Confirms What We All Expected About Illuminati Cameos

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness star Hayley Atwell has confirmed something we've long suspected about the sequel's Illuminati sequence, and it's all to do with how many actors were on set...

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness didn't explore the Multiverse in the way many fans had hoped, hence why there was no sign of Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man or an Earth where Steve Rogers was U.S. President (two popular rumours prior to the sequel's release).

The movie's main cameos came our way when we met Earth-838's Illuminati, though we've since heard that multiple actors and characters were cut from the sequence.

For example, it's believed a stand-in was used for Magneto at one point, while scheduling issues saw Daniel Craig forced to pass on the role of Balder the Brave. The biggest surprise was John Krasinski's Mister Fantastic, an actor Elizabeth Olsen has since confirmed she never crossed paths with on set.

Now, Captain Carter actress Hayley Atwell has revealed many of the Illuminati's cameos were shot without the characters ever really standing side-by-side.

Talking to Happy Sad Confused, the Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One star was asked about the star-studded sequence and said, "No, John Krasinski wasn’t there, Lashana Lynch was there, Patrick Stewart wasn’t there. So, it was weird..."

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness underwent more than one round of reshoots and this sequence was changed multiple times. While Captain Carter and Captain Marvel were clearly always meant to be there, the rest of this group's roster was fluid.

Earth-838 is a location which we're expecting to return to in Deadpool 3, with that empty chair likely belonging to a certain Master of Magnetism.

That hasn't been confirmed, but it would make all the sense in the world (Multiverse?) to further explore the impact of the Scarlet Witch's actions when she inhabited the body of her alternate-reality counterpart and laid waste to many of Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

Recently, Atwell expressed disappointment with her live-action Captain Carter cameo. Read more about that by clicking here

@Usernametaken - I probably have to rewatch Shang-Chi. I got to the fight on the scaffolding fell asleep and woke up for the final battle.

As for Loki, I liked some episodes not all, that's why I think WandaVision was better, well up until the final episode.

@marvel72 - best of phase 4 is like saying Im the fastest snail on earth.

also this fight scene is the dumbest one In the whole of the MCU. even dumber than thor LaT.

...eeeeeeven dumber than bat vs supes.

@marvel72 - MCU content now is at best 2/3 good and 1/3 crap.

Even shang chi, the third act is nowhere near as good as the first 2.

Tbh the Agatha thing ruined wandavision for me.
If I want to watch hocus Pocus shit' I'll watch that.

I really can't think of one single show or movie that was good from beginning to end.

I'll put Hawkeye and falcon as the most disappointing though.

@Usernametaken - no way home. was good end to end. do you consider it MCU?
iceballsreborn
iceballsreborn - 7/16/2023, 12:03 PM
@cubichy - i wont disagree.. but i spent specifically fight scene. iE telling your opponent whats going to happend before it happens. also youre the smartest person on the planet. also you stand there taking it in turns to be annihalted when you have captain marvel just standing there. also i can do this all day and then chopped in half. this was sooo dumb. but they has to make her unstoppable. she was also the one who came closest to taking thanos out. i hate it.

@iceballsreborn - it's still same world and with same Peter who has been in the MCU

@Usernametaken - I can't understand how you'd enjoy Wandavision but only prior to Agatha. Yes, she was hammy, but the show was already hammy so what was the issue?
Usernametaken
Usernametaken - 7/16/2023, 3:03 PM
@Slotherin - The show was hammy inside the realm Wanda created, it had a point, it was to reflect a simpler time in television and Wanda's mind.

Agatha was not part of that imaginary "hammy" world. and the character just doesn't do anything for me, from her motivation to the choice for the actress, to her costume, powers. I thought it was lazy and cliché.

@iceballsreborn - The movie is solid beginning to end, I'm just not a fan. I don't have anything bad to say about it though.
Slotherin
Slotherin - 7/16/2023, 3:32 PM
@Usernametaken - Agatha WAS part of it though and was actively interacting as a player in it, even arguably a co-creator and someone actively there to manipulate Wanda... why wouldn't she adopt being hammy to sell it?
Usernametaken
Usernametaken - 7/16/2023, 3:44 PM
@Slotherin - I make a distinction between both realities.
The character should have been more grounded in the actual reality, otherwise for me it does not work.

Also the powers and fight scene just [frick]ing sucks.

Here is an anime who was made by people who actually have ideas

Slotherin
Slotherin - 7/16/2023, 4:17 PM
@Usernametaken - she stopped being hammy during that fight besides the typical villain banter here and there and remarks made to throw Wanda off balance and give her what she wants.
It lines up with the notion of witches as deceptive manipulators.
Oddly this only enhanced appreciation for me of how they handled things.

I have no context of what it is in that anime that you're trying to showcase, especially with little context of the anime.

@Slotherin - It was about how to do magic fight scenes properly.

As for the rest, agree to disagree.

@Usernametaken - what makes one proper vs not proper?

I can't wait for Chick Avengers. Shit's going to be LIT AF!!!

Ironheart will make Bob Iger happier than he's ever been and totally course correct Disney, Marvel AND Lucasfilm all at once like a real life multiverse crossover.

@Batmangina - I remember when they first announced the character coming to the MCU.

I didn't think much of it, the comics looked cool enough.

But then I Saw BP2 and nothing about that character was good or interesting. It was like looking at the wish version or Iron Man.

No thanks you

I liked the movie well enough, but I really disliked how they made Wanda such an irredeemable villain. I guess that they'll use Coven of Chaos to low-key blame it on the Darkhold.
MosquitoFarmer
MosquitoFarmer - 7/16/2023, 8:01 AM
@DiegoMD - They blamed it on the Darkhold in the movie, and also teased the turn in WandaVision. But, in fairness, it did often times feel like that point took a backseat.

Same thing about Infinity War, lots of scenes were spliced together with actors that were hardly together on stage.

But I forget, the internet is still pretending to respect the MCU pre-PhaseIV.
bobevanz
bobevanz - 7/16/2023, 8:46 AM
@DrReedRichards - nobody hated phase 1-3 because it as building to something. How many movies and shows in phase 4? Now how many set up future projects? Don't worry I'll wait lol
DrReedRichards
DrReedRichards - 7/16/2023, 11:25 AM
@bobevanz -

Lol, no you won't. That's what you do. You throw something, and when responded to you either ignore or diverge.

That's your whole spiel.
Slotherin
Slotherin - 7/16/2023, 12:58 PM
@bobevanz - you're comparing one phase to three....
Slotherin
Slotherin - 7/16/2023, 1:08 PM
@bobevanz - Wandavision ties into Doctor Strange which left off on incursions and also ties into multiverses.
Falcon and Winter Soldier leads into Cap 4, while Loki connects to Quantumania which also ties into multiversal threats.
Captain Marvel and MoM brought mutants into light.
Black Widow set up characters for Hawkeye, Black Panther 2 and Thunderbolts. Hawkeye and She-hulk connect to Echo and Daredevil Reborn.

Black Panther 2 addresses the future of Wakanda and introduces a new world power in Talokan while Shang-Chi sets up a return of the Ten Rings as a continuing organization and the plot thread of the rings themselves.

It's a lot and maybe not as streamlined or simple as Thanos and the Stones were, but there's a lot that's been brought in and set up
