Would DOCTOR STRANGE Director Scott Derrickson Reunite With Benedict Cumberbatch For Horror Movie? (Exclusive)

Filmmaker Scott Derrickson was responsible for bringing Benedict Cumberbatch into the MCU in 2016's Doctor Strange, but would the filmmaker like to reunite with the actor on a horror movie? Check it out!

Benedict Cumberbatch has established himself as one of the finest actors of this generation. As well as starring in a plethora of Marvel Studios blockbusters, the actor has also lent his talents to heaps of critically acclaimed movies that have seen him earn a lot of impressive accolades, including multiple Oscar nominations.

However, we've yet to see Cumberbatch star in a horror movie.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness certainly paid homage to director Sam Raimi's horror roots, but it was by no means the no-holds-barred scary movie many fans hoped for. Of course, it was horror vet Scott Derrickson who directed Cumberbatch in 2016's Doctor Strange, and during an interview to discuss The Black Phone, we wondered if he'd like to bring the actor into that genre.

"Yeah, I actually have no idea how interested Benedict would be in doing a horror film," the filmmaker admits (via FearHQ.com). "I don’t remember ever talking to him about the horror genre. Yes, I would 100% work with Benedict again. He’s an amazing actor and a really great guy. I’d love to see him in a horror film."

We agree wholeheartedly with that sentiment, and hope that if it does happen for Cumberbatch, it will be with Derrickson. The director brought Ethan Hawke into the genre with Sinister, and reunited with him for The Black Phone (and trust us when we say the Moon Knight star goes all out with his performance as The Grabber).

For now, Cumberbatch remains as busy as ever in Hollywood, so we'll see what the future holds. After the latest Doctor Strange movie, we obviously expect to see the actor continue to play the former Sorcerer Supreme throughout the jam-packed Multiverse Saga!

The Black Phone is now streaming on Peacock and also available on Digital platforms. The movie arrives on DVD and Blu-ray on August 16.

@Blahsketcase94 - while Benedict did a good job, Zombie Strange was the worst part of the movie for me.

That said, Benedict would be great in a horror film, and just as a villain in general.

@thewanderer - Sad to hear you felt that way. I absolutely loved Zombie Strange. Felt like early Sam Raimi in the best way possible.

The black phone was boring, nothing happens, and then it ends. Crazy overrated
