The past couple of months have seen a noteworthy rise in box office revenue, and it's slowly beginning to feel like things are getting back to normal. Now, Deadline is reporting that advance ticket sales for Eternals are through the roof and well ahead of both Black Widow and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
Since tickets went on sale on Monday, the next Phase 4 movie has earned $2.6 million in a 24 hour period. That's 86% ahead of Shang-Chi's $1.4 million and 30% ahead of Black Widow's $2 million.
AMC reports that Eternals has scored their largest day-one sales of 2021, and many fans are claiming on social media that nearby screenings have already sold out. It's too early to say what sort of opening weekend Oscar-winner Chloé Zhao's Marvel Cinematic Universe movie could have, but we might see this top Venom: Let There Be Carnage's $90 million haul.
Marvel Studios' biggest November openings are Thor: Ragnarok ($122.7 million), Thor: The Dark World ($85.7 million), and Doctor Strange ($85 million). All of those were released pre-pandemic, of course, so if Eternals manages to come close to any of them, it will be a big win for Disney.
The world premiere of Eternals is set to take place in Los Angeles on Monday, so expect the first social media reactions to start finding their way online shortly after.
We don't know when the review embargo lifts, but rest assured that we'll be sharing our verdict with you as soon as possible! The movie does open in some international locations before the U.S., so spoilers could become an issue when that week of release finally rolls around.
Eternals is set to be released in theaters on November 5.
