Eternals has assembled an amazing cast, but Gemma Chan has proved to be one of the movie's most surprising additions. Not long after wrapping work on Captain Marvel - where she played Minn-Erva - the actress was added to the ensemble, albeit as a completely different character.
While Minn-Erva and Sersi are different enough that it shouldn't matter, it's created a lot of discussion (and theories) online. All we really know about Sersi is that she'll be romantically involved with Kit Harington's Dane Whitman, but Vanity Fair has now shared a few new details in a profile on Chan.
Apparently, we can expect Sersi to be "an alien furnished with all the best superpowers - telepathy, telekinesis, superhuman strength."
That's a formidable set of abilities, but what made Chan want to get involved with Eternals? "She’s the most human-loving of all the Eternals, and she really appealed to me," the actress said, admitting that there's not a lot she can say about her character. "She’s incredibly empathetic."
We don't actually know when we'll get a first look at Eternals, but some action figures recently leaked online which revealed shots of most of the team. They look awesome, and it's clear that this history-spanning adventure is going to be unlike anything we've ever seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
