Eternals stars Kit Harington and Richard Madden first shared the screen in the first episode of Game of Thrones, but when Robb Stark and Jon Snow went their separate ways, that was it for them. Despite that, fans of the HBO series have been extremely excited to see their reunion in the Marvel Studios movie, though for the two actors, it really wasn't that big of a deal.
"I’ve said this a few times, but it’s true: we really didn’t have a lot of time on set together on Game of Thrones," Harington reiterated in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. "So it’s strange. Our closeness is not built in front of camera; it’s built behind camera. We’ve been very good friends for a long time, so it was nice to spend bit of time — albeit limited time — with a friend on set."
Adding that it wasn't at all strange to see each other on a "more modern-day set," the Dane Whitman actor added: "[Laughs] Yeah, for fans of Game of Thrones or fans of that universe, to see two major roles from that world in another one feels like a bigger thing than it does to me and Richard."
Of course, another big reunion potentially in Harington's MCU future is with fellow Game of Thrones alum Emilia Clarke. The Daenerys Targaryen actress has been cast as a mystery character in Secret Invasion, with the prevailing theory being that she's either Skrull Queen Veranke or S.W.O.R.D. Director Abigail Brand.
"That would slightly blow my mind, I think, because me and Emilia had a lot together. So if we ended up crossing paths in a different franchise, I think we’d have a good old giggle about that."
Harington may soon get a bit sick of questions like these, but something tells us we'll be seeing a lot of Dane in the MCU over the next few years (and not just in the Eternals franchise).
Eternals is now playing in theaters.
