Makeup artist Joel Harlow won an Oscar for his work on Star Trek and is responsible for bringing some of cinema's most iconic creatures to life on the big and small screens. With Hellboy now available on DVD and Blu-ray, we recently had the opportunity to talk to Joel about bringing Bid Red back to theaters, and also asked about recent reports that he's working on Eternals

The Marvel Studios movie is set to be released next year and is bound to feature plenty of weird and wonderful aliens. Sadly, it won't be Joel who is responsible for designing them despite various websites and IMDb claiming that he's the movie's makeup department head.

"I'm not actually!" he confirmed. "I don't know why people think I'm working on that. I'm not working on Eternals...I don't even know what it is! [Laughs]" Joel does, however, have plenty of other exciting projects on the way. "I'm working on A Quiet Place 2 and a TV show called Evil for CBS and then we're gonna start pretty shortly here a second season of NOS4A2 for AMC."

Joel is no stranger to the Marvel Cinematic Universe after working on Black Panther, and when I asked if he would like to return to that world in the near future, he was understandably enthusiastic.

"Absolutely. Those films are fantastic. I can watch them over and over. Making them, especially making Black Panther, you know you're part of something much bigger than yourself and very special. It touched a lot of people. To have a project like that on the résumé, I feel very honoured, and I would love to return to that world in whatever form it takes now that Phase 3 is over."

We'll bring you our full interview with Joel about his work on Hellboy very soon! Hellboy is out now on Digital Download and on Blu-ray and DVD August 19.
