Earlier this week, we learned that Angelina Jolie has landed the lead female role in
The Eternals. Now, a new rumour has started circulating online which claims that the movie's male lead is going to be Hercules. That makes perfect sense, right?
After all, the character's big screen debut is long overdue and this gives Marvel Studios the opportunity to tie this adventure into real-life mythology. So, what's the twist? Well, as we've heard in the past, the movie's male lead will be the Marvel Cinematic Universe's first openly gay character and there is, of course, a precedent for that in the comic books.
It's said that we may get some casting news soon in regards to who will take on the role and this direction for the character is bound to get comic book fans talking.
With any luck, we'll get to see Hercules somehow arrive in the present-day MCU somewhere down the line as it would obviously be a great deal of fun watching him interact with Earth's Mightiest Heroes and Thor, in particular. Hercules has been part of The Avengers on many occasions and could definitely bring a lot to the team during their Phase 4 adventures.

DRUIG
It appears as if The Eternals' big bad will be Druig, a character introduced in the pages of Eternals #11 in 1977. Despite being a Jack Kirby creation, it was actually Neil Gaiman who put this guy on the map. In the comics, he can manipulate matter and energy and served as an agent of the KGB once upon a time, something which could give this movie a big link to Black Widow.
