It seems like every time I do one of these, few days later WB comes out with some big announcement, so let’s see if there is some magic to it…

It’s a new year, and it’s time for a new cool fan-casting for the DC cinematic universe. I know that I personally already did few of these, so I apologize for doing yet another one, but I have lots of cool new ideas for the DCCU, and I will try to be very original this time.

Few things before we start:
I never try to go and cast and actor/actress that just look like the part. Keep in mind that actors can change their appearance, they can change the color of their hair, they can go to the Hollywood gym and get into “Thor shape”, and after all it’s a movie, if they can make Tom Cruise be tall, they can do anything. So I do this fan-cast based on who I think will be great in the role, but also who is a good actor/actress.

Also, some of these casting I did are little unconventional, but I’m trying to be original, and have a cool cast.

For some characters I casted multiple choices for role, so keep this in mind.

One last thing, all of these choices are based only on my opinion, so it’s cool if you agree or disagree with these fan-castings. I will be very happy to hear what your choices are.

So let’s do this:

I will start with Green Lantern. First of all, I hope that when WB will be doing the Green Lantern movie, I want that movie to be only in space. No Earth is needed for a Green Lantern movie. Its superheroes meet Star Wars, and with some Star Wars movie on the way, I’m sure that WB will want to have some cool space stuff too, so Green Lantern could be amazing if WB will do an epic space opera.

Now as far as which Green Lantern we should get, it has to be Hal Jordan.
I believe that WB are going to use Hal Jordan and not John Stewart in their movies, because it seems their basing many in the DCCU on the New 52. Plus, this is the same reason they are using Barry Allen as the Flash, they are choosing the original characters.

Choice number 1: Dan Stevens

I recently watched “The Guest” and Dan Stevens was really great in that movie. While watching the
film, I thought to myself: “Wow, this guy could be a great Hal Jordan”.
For some reason when I look on this guy, I think “What if Bradley Cooper had a kid with Armie Hammer? You will get Dan Stevens!”
But I’m not just basing it on how he looks, but on his acting chops, and he has some great acting skills, and he also has that charm that Hal needs. I will totally buy this guy as a pilot turned superhero.

Choice number 2: Sam Claflin

I really liked him in Hunger Games movies and he seems to be a pretty good actor. Plus he has the charisma and the looks that Hal Jordan has, and he is going to be really big after the Hunger Games movies, so casting someone like him will help to push the character, and make people forget about that 2011 movie.

Choice number 3: Garrett Hedlund

?
I still think that Garrett Hedlund is a good actor. “Tron Legacy” maybe killed his career, but he was pretty good in “Inside Llewyn Davis” and he might rise for the ashes after WB’s “Pan”. And just like Sam Claflin, he has the charisma and the looks. But this is also the reason he is my 3rd choice.

Moving to the last superhero in the Justice League that hasn’t been cast yet, it’s time to cast Shazam!

I still believe that in some point in this year (maybe this year’s Comic-Con) WB will announce that the Rock will actually play both Black Adam and Shazam. I can’t believe that you will cast someone like the Rock in a superhero movie and have him play an “anti-hero”. Plus the Shazam movie comes out in 2019, this is a very long time until we finally see Rock in any DCCU movie.
So either they changing things from the comics, and it will be Black Adam in the Justice League, or it will be the Rock, playing Shazam, and then in the stand-alone movie, he will play both of them, which will be cool.

Anyway, here are some other options for Shazam:

Choice number 1: Dayo Okeniyi

Yes, I just did that. I just turned Shazam into a “black guy”. I really like this actor, and he is pretty big. Now some of you will ask “why the hell would you change Shazam’s race?”. Well, my main problem with Shazam in the comics is that he just looks too much as Superman. And I want him to be different (I know how racist this sounds, sorry). I think it will be cool to have a black Shazam. It is so stupid that so many superheroes are only white, and studios put a “one black superhero” into the mix to make it feel more “ethnic balanced”. Well screw that! If we can get 5 white superheroes, why can’t there be more than one black superhero in the same superhero team? Anyway, stopping myself on this rent. This is my opinion, and I think it will be very cool to see Dayo Okeniyi as Shazam!

Choice number 2: Jack O'Connell

Jack O'Connell is an up-and-coming actor. I’m trying to go young on the Shazam choices, and I think that this kid could be great as Shazam. He was cool in “300: Rise of an Empire” and he was one of the good things in “Unbroken”. And if you watched the British shows “Skins” he was great there also. Plus I think that after the “Hollywood gym” he can be pretty big.

So now that we have the heroes out of the way, lets to the big bad villains.

Let’s start with the villain of “Justice League Part 1” (well if we believe all the rumors). I have few cool choices for Brainiac, and I’m so glad that he will finally be making a live-action appearance in a DC movie.

Choice number 1: Eddie Redmayne

I just watched “The Theory of Everything”, and damn this guy is good. I can just see him doing some performance capture as Brainiac. Plus his voice is spot-on. I hope that WB will cast this guy.

Choice number 2: Colin Firth

Colin Firth is my answer to James Spader as Ultron. I really love Firth, he is a great actor, and he has that cool British accent that Brainiac needs.

Choice number 3: Cillian Murphy

Every time I do a fan-casting for Brainiac, I must put Cillian Murphy in role. The guy is awesome. I know that he was Scarecrow, but if Tom Hardy gets to play a 2nd character in the DCCU, then Murphy gets it too. He will be perfect as Brainiac.

And now for the big one, it’s time to cast the Darkseid!

I believe that whoever will play Darkseid will do it via performance capture and voice acting, so they can cast almost anybody (well not anybody, but it makes it more actors choice more wide).

Choice number 1: Ron Perlman

I know that many will say that Michael Ironside should play Darkseid, but I want someone else, not to say that Ironside is awesome, but I want some other voice, not something we already heard in the cartoon. Since Ron Perlman will never get to play Hellboy again, I want him to be Darkseid. It won’t be just a voice over by him, WB can use performance capture, and that will be very scary and menacing Darkseid.

Choice number 2: Idris Elba

I know that Idris Elba is already in Marvel, but his role in the Thor movies is so forgettable. This is an A-class actor, and you make him play just “some guy”? I mean, how bad-ass it will be to see Elba as the big boss of villains in the DCCU, just think about it.

Choice number 3: Andy Serkis

The king of performance capture to play the scariest dude in the DCCU? Hell yeah!
I know that Andy Serkis is going to be in some Marvel movies, and he is also in Star Wars and pretty much everything else. But I want this to happen. He as a great and deep voice, and no one can do better performance capture then him.

Commissioner James Gordon:

Choice number 1: Denzel Washington

Choice number 2: Ethan Hawke

Sinestro

Choice number 1: Joel Edgerton

Choice number 2: Idris Elba

My top choice for Idris Elba is to play Darkseid, but he could be a great Sinestro too.

Choice number 3: Jason Clarke

The Riddler - Noah Taylor

Carol Ferris - Odette Annable

Barbara Gordon - Sarah Snook

I did an extended fan-casting few months back, there I had many more castings. So this one could be considered an updated and better fan-cast.

I feel like Brad Pitt would do an awesome job at Deathstroke or Gordon, very happy to see some Aussie-blood in there with Joel Edgerton, he was one of the better parts of Exodus. Brainiac would be a perfect fit for Redmayne, his role in Jupiter Ascending looks to be quite interesting, especially as a villian.

I like Perlman for Darkseid. My 1st choice has always been Clancy Brown, but I'd be happy with either.

For your Green Lantern I like Hedlund best. His looks more closely resemble what I've always envisioned Green Lantern looking like. My choice is actually Taylor Kitsch. I think he could own the role.
