FAN FICTION PROPOSAL - WRITERS NEEDED: DC/Marvel: The Animated Series script series

An idea to create a whole new universe placing DC, Marvel and possibly other characters into one giant melting pot...

So I've been thinking a lot of this idea and I need more opinions. I've been a lifelong DC fan, however over the years I have watched the X-Men/Spider-Man films/animated series etc . so i know a bit abut the 'other side' as it were, as well as the current Marvel Cinematic Universe which I really enjoyed.

What I love in particular about this series is the idea of taking the original heroes and crossing them over - because that is how it all started, pretty much all the heroes for both DC and Marvel started seperate and THEN crossed over in the years - some were even owned by differenet companies and bought into the universes later on. It recently happened when DC merged former imprint Milestone into what is now 'The New 52'

What if DC and Marvel though were one of the same? They're all superheroes! This would, however, mean a more or less complete restructure, as the world would be very different.

This idea has been done before a few times, the main one being this

http://www.continuumworlds.org/DCM/index.html

As you read through, you realise a lot of the same things are there, but a bit different, for example:

- Peter Parker works at the Daily Planet, with Perry White, Jimmy Olsen and Lois Lane etc.
- Gotham is a borough of New York City, not it's own place
- Jonathan and Martha Kent die when Clark is a boy, and due to his speical abilities, he is adopted by Charles Xavier, and Superman is one of the X-Men
- Bruce Wayne and Tony Stark were childhood friends, and the Waynes are killed by agents
- Dick Grayson was never adopted by Bruce Wayne but the Flying Graysons murders happened which inspired him to join Bludhaven Poilice Department, Robins are Shilo Norman and Chuck Barnes (related to Bucky)
- Captain America was leader of the JSA during WW2, and he joins the Avengers League in the modern era.
- Hal Jordan becomes Green Lantern much later on in the JLA's' existence.

So as you can see some things are more different than others. But I'd do it a bit different.

- Superman would not be an X-Men, and would move to Metropolis as a young adult
- Bruce Banner would be the Hulk, not someone else
- Gotham and Metropolis would be their own cities

I know I tend to lean toward DC, but I'm willing to learn about Marvel as I am doing anyway. That in itself is an exciting new world.

We could take advantage of the whole 'Golden Age' 'Modern Age' thing, placing some characters in the past. But the important thing is making things cohesive.

Another thing as well is taking heroes from other companies - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (I'd love to do a dark reimagining), The Shadow, The Mask - could also be incorporated. let's treat thign as open season.

So where on Earth do we start?! Good question. I'm suggesting the first 22 episode season (or maybe half of that) could be an ORIGINS theme, an anthology series, but we would have an element of crossover and end with a 2/3 part finale, perhaps introducing the Justice Avengers or something.

What ideas (constructive criticism please!) do you have? I guess the first phase is deciding which heroes we want to use and go from there?

How many people are interested?

Although I wouldn't make it an animated series. What we have to do is think of 1 big story and lay out the foundations in articles first.

Indeed yes, basically do the timeline/chronology, and some arc/problem.

Also we need top think of geography, where New York/Metropolis/Gotham/Star city etc are in relation to each other...
DannyL
DannyL - 1/28/2012, 3:37 PM
Also we need to look at each character and their backstory and possibl interlink as this is a new unvierse - basically start from scratch as it were

And think does SHIELD exist? Maybe have Lex in various stories doing busines with Wayne Enterprises/Stark Industries or running a Presidential campaign; Amanda Waller and Cadmus are they a rival to SHIELD/Does it exist/Are characters now related who weren't before? What about the Golden Age, was t here a JSA or just some other heroes as well as Captain America - maybe the government puts together a special team to fight the war, then the idea is picked up for the Justice Avengers, perhaps heroes survive into the far future i.e. Batman Beyond.

But the challenge will be to do 'joint reboot' as if WWarner bought Marvel and not Disney not Elseworlds. Start slowly with not too many characters, otherwise it'll be frantic, then when we're more confident and know more we'll add more in.

@3D reporting for duty!

I can write, or so I think.

Not interested in discussing ideas.

Just tell me the direction and I'll take it from there.

Oh, and I can follow rules.
I won't take something and do it my way.

I don't usually like 'merging universes' kind of story, but this one sounds so interesting. I can write (well, just fairly); and sometimes I develop crazy ideas, as well. So, yeah...

What about Lex Luthor doesn't simply campaign for presidential election (it's too mainstream, IMO) and instead manipulates S.H.I.E.L.D. from behind besides of doing business with Stark and Wayne Enterprises; making S.H.I.E.L.D. a two-faced organization of some sort? Then it's stated above that the Waynes were killed by agents, what about those agents are S.H.I.E.L.D.'s? And I'd personally make John Stewart and James Rhodes friends in an army force or whatever...should be damn cool. (They can be spared for later on, though.) 'Justice Avengers' sounds a bit too cheesy, though...but I can't come up with a better name, either. I think after the JSA/Captain America team in the World War II, it'd be better to not have another team in the present day yet.

Just some of my suggestions, anyway! Also, I think it'd be better to keep it just Marvel and DC...I mean, adding Power Rangers, TMNT, etc., can just make this a bit messy. (They're also radically different types of characters compared to the characters of Marvel and DC, should be hard to blend them all into one universe.) One question, is this proposal going to be developed into a fan series or something, or will this just be a fictional animated series, where we imagine this being made by Marvel and DC? Just that, looking forward for more. :)

Sounds interesting but will this ever be brought to life some how or will it just be articles where we must imagine what is going on?

I think it's best to start with the most important characters. S.H.I.E.L.D will exist and they would've formed the Avengers League in WW2 lead by Cap, and then he's frozen and awakes and joins the modern day Avengers League. As far as geography goes, I think it'd be better to have Gotham City replace New York. Possibly the plot could be Loki tricking both sides into fighting? Peter Parker would work at the Daily Planet in Metropolis and when Supes comes along they get bad blood between them or something?

DannyL - 1/29/2012, 6:52 AM
Hmmm, well it could be a series of fan scripts or audio dramas might be better in the long run (mic, Audacity free software job done), in time there'll be a WORDPRESS blogspace where we put everything.

I guess I should start with a list of Characters/mythologies to throw in, for starters.

- Superman
- Captain America (Golden and Modern)
- Batman
- Iron Man
- Wonder Woman ((Golden and Modoern)
- X-Men
- Green Lantern (Golden and Modern)
- Spider-Man
- The Flash (Golden and Modern)
- Nick Fury
- SHIELD/Equivalent organisation - I do like the idea of taking the groups like Avengers, JL, Cadmus etc and merging them into one.

An idea I read a long time ago was merging origins - It's been done on The New Frontier movie, and it included things like Martian Manhunter's people in conflict with Zod and Kryptonians; Hal Jordan and Steve Trevor flying together - Hal meets Abin Sur while Steve ends up on Themyscira,

You could do this for heroes and villains.

Another thing aswell someone pointed out, it would be good to have a smaller writing pool like 5-6 people - too many cooks can spoil the broth!

No offence to anyone, but this will keep things more focused

This is a very interesting idea and I'd love to help out. I've only written Pokemon fan fiction before, but that got boring and this seems like a nice way to take up writing again. I've got a few ideas I think could work:

- Combine New York City and Gotham City into New Gotham City. Have Spider-Man as the Spider-Man Noir version and Batman together there.

-Wayne Enterprises and Stark Industries are rivals and naturally so are Bruce and Tony. To make things even more complicated, both Iron Man and Batman join the Avengers League. Bruce (and the world) know Tony is Iron Man, but Tony doesn't know Bruce is Batman.

-Martha and Jonathan Kent are agents of SHIELD/Equivalent organization sent to Kansas when Kal-El's ship is sensed speeding towards Earth.

-Hal Jordan is a test pilot for Stark Industries subsidiary Ferris Aircraft. Tony and Carol are known to fondue. This makes for conflict between Hal and Tony because he's in love with Carol, while Tony is just screwing her to screw her

I like the ideas. The story should be told in parts, with the mythology being covered in the parts. Part 1 would consist of the origins for the main characters. I know more about Marvel but I could help write the Superman and Batman origin as well. Jonathan and Martha Kent and Richard and May Parker are Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and are friends. Jonathan and Ma are sent to look after Clark as he grows up. Bruce and Tony are childhood friends, and both their parents are killed by Joe Chill on the same night. Maybe have one of them cast out and the other raised as a rich child? Bruce could go the Year One route and Tony would be raised as a rich kid, prompting bad blood between them.

A Civil War would be good. I think Peter Parker should leave New Gotham City and go work at the Daily Planet, where him and Clark are rivals. When Clark is in his late teens, Thor crash lands on the Kent farm, killing Jonathan and Ma. Supes would then be taken in by the X-Men. S.H.I.E.L.D are trying to re-create the Avengers League, the team that won them WW2. They discover Clark (calling himself Superman) and want to use him in the League. Batman + Iron Man + Thor + Spidey + Green Lantern are already apart of it. Have that bad blood between GL and Tony like you said. Loki should be the main villain, using the Mind Gem of the Infinity Gauntlet manipulating the Green Lantern Corps into fighting Earth. A Civil War type thing would be great. Loki takes advantage of the massive rivalry between heroes and manipulates them to fight each other, knowing that they'll destroy Earth in the process.

Whadda' ya think?

@Caleb - I like pretty much all these ideas. I know nothing about SMN but i could research

Maybe the Kents start by thinking this baby is an experiment, but they soon realise they love this child like their own.

The Tony/Bruce things would be electric - Also there's Lexcorp, so Metropolis' 'golden boy' could be there too business wise. Maybe we could have Tony trying to work out why batman so dislikes him at first.

MovieMaster it will be great to have someone who knows Marvel!! Batman and Superman are of course the ones I'm most familiar with, so we could use that to intertwine.

Hero vs hero would be epic, but it shouldnt be too verses. Maybe at that point more heroes emerge to make a stronger League, as people leave/die.

I'm interested in writing the conflict of Wayne Enterprise and Stark Industries.
Corporate espionage and stuff.

I need to read Civil War lol. It couldn't just be Marvel VS DC, there'd need to be other teams. S.H.I.E.L.D fighting their own creation= EPIC! Well X-Men and Supes would be pissed off at the government so they would fight them. IM would side with the government so Bats and GL would fight alongside X-Men. Cap and Thor would try and fight for the good of mankind, along with others, but who? Doctor Strange, Wonder Woman, Hulk, Daredevil etc.

OMFG THIS IS GONNA BE EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm in for anything. Especially a darker version of Power Rangers.
darthbobtarkas
darthbobtarkas - 1/29/2012, 11:47 AM
How about something set in the past, like in the Wild West. How about a Ghost Rider, Lone Ranger and Phantom mash up with Jonah Hex as the villain?
And then a Batman Beyond-esque future, with Power Rangers (albiet darker) with a grizzled old Martian Manhunter as their mentor and a newly revived Brainiac as their villain. The monsters could be cyborgs, like creepy as [frick] animal/robot/human hybrids. There can be a backstory for this, where the heroes and villains fought an epic battle that levelled most of America and every superhuman died in process. That would be epic.

@3D Corporate espionage sounds cool.

a crew of 7. NICE!!

OK , stage 2.

So £D wants the corporate stuff, MovieMaker wants to origins, which I'm interested in too - I could take Green Lantern. What else do other people want to do?

MODERN DAY DEFENSE FORCE
JUSTICE AVENGERS
AVENGERS LEAGUE - been done by CW
SUPER HERO DEFENCE FORCE (SHDF) - naah
SHIELD
AMERICAN DEFENCE UNI (ADU)
DEFENCE & COMBAT MEGA UNIT (DCMU)
MEGA DEFENCE & COMBAT UNIT (MDCU)
MovieMaster
MovieMaster - 1/29/2012, 1:02 PM
Lets get thing sorted. The plotline is a civil war between superheroes.

Teams:

S.H.I.E.L.D/Government:
Members: Black Widow, Nick Fury, SHIELD agents, Hawkeye (I think it's better if he stays with SHIELD) Ant-Man, Wasp.

NSG (The Human Heroes, or HH):

Members: Iron Man, Black Panther, Batman and Green Arrow? I don't think GL should be in it cos he technically has superpowers lol.

X-Men:

Members: Basically all the mutants and Superman.

The Avengers League:

Members: Cap, Thor, Hulk, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman and Flash.

But what shall we do with the supervillains? Villain mutants should join with the X-Men. But what about the others? Form their own group?
MovieMaster
MovieMaster - 1/29/2012, 1:03 PM
Oh I'll take the main storyline. Who's writing what?
DannyL
DannyL - 1/29/2012, 1:04 PM
MovieMaster I love your ideas, but I think we should rename the Avengers League because CW already used it.

MDCU is my favourite, but shouldnt we concentrate on the individual heroes first?
MovieMaster
MovieMaster - 1/29/2012, 1:10 PM
Oh ok fair play. This seems like a packed story lol. I like Modern Day Defence Force. Also, because Cap is part of that team in WW2, should it just be called Defense Force back then? Maybe we should take some unnecessary characters out of it, like all the DC heroes except Superman and Batman.

Kidding!
MovieMaster
MovieMaster - 1/29/2012, 1:11 PM
@hawkeye07- Yeah they all fight, but there needs to be a reason. Either Loki tricks them into fighting so they can destroy Earth or something happens prompting them to fight.
MovieMaster
MovieMaster - 1/29/2012, 1:20 PM
I think it would be better if it was it's own universe where they all co-exist, because then it's easier to explain why certain heroes are missing. For the MDDF Thor and Doc Strange should be taken out. That way we can have the corporate espionage between Stark Industries and Wayne Enterprises, and possibly Lexcorp.
