So I've been thinking a lot of this idea and I need more opinions. I've been a lifelong DC fan, however over the years I have watched the X-Men/Spider-Man films/animated series etc . so i know a bit abut the 'other side' as it were, as well as the current Marvel Cinematic Universe which I really enjoyed.
What I love in particular about this series is the idea of taking the original heroes and crossing them over - because that is how it all started, pretty much all the heroes for both DC and Marvel started seperate and THEN crossed over in the years - some were even owned by differenet companies and bought into the universes later on. It recently happened when DC merged former imprint Milestone into what is now 'The New 52'
What if DC and Marvel though were one of the same? They're all superheroes! This would, however, mean a more or less complete restructure, as the world would be very different.
This idea has been done before a few times, the main one being this

As you read through, you realise a lot of the same things are there, but a bit different, for example:
- Peter Parker works at the Daily Planet, with Perry White, Jimmy Olsen and Lois Lane etc.
- Gotham is a borough of New York City, not it's own place
- Jonathan and Martha Kent die when Clark is a boy, and due to his speical abilities, he is adopted by Charles Xavier, and Superman is one of the X-Men
- Bruce Wayne and Tony Stark were childhood friends, and the Waynes are killed by agents
- Dick Grayson was never adopted by Bruce Wayne but the Flying Graysons murders happened which inspired him to join Bludhaven Poilice Department, Robins are Shilo Norman and Chuck Barnes (related to Bucky)
- Captain America was leader of the JSA during WW2, and he joins the Avengers League in the modern era.
- Hal Jordan becomes Green Lantern much later on in the JLA's' existence.
So as you can see some things are more different than others. But I'd do it a bit different.
- Superman would not be an X-Men, and would move to Metropolis as a young adult
- Bruce Banner would be the Hulk, not someone else
- Gotham and Metropolis would be their own cities
I know I tend to lean toward DC, but I'm willing to learn about Marvel as I am doing anyway. That in itself is an exciting new world.
We could take advantage of the whole 'Golden Age' 'Modern Age' thing, placing some characters in the past. But the important thing is making things cohesive.
Another thing as well is taking heroes from other companies - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (I'd love to do a dark reimagining), The Shadow, The Mask - could also be incorporated. let's treat thign as open season.
So where on Earth do we start?! Good question. I'm suggesting the first 22 episode season (or maybe half of that) could be an ORIGINS theme, an anthology series, but we would have an element of crossover and end with a 2/3 part finale, perhaps introducing the Justice Avengers or something.
What ideas (constructive criticism please!) do you have? I guess the first phase is deciding which heroes we want to use and go from there?
