Greetings fellow CBM fans.
I have seen Man of Steel a couple of times and I loved the movie and I am glad that they managed to raise enough money to get a sequel and kick start the DCCU. However I have many questions and some ideas about how they should tackle the sequel and turn it into a solid bridge to a Justice League Movie.
What should happen in the sequel to Man of Steel?
They need to explain the aftermath of Zod´s Invassion and the destruction of Metropolis and Smallville. MOS left the door open for a lot of speculation about this. The world knows that there was an alien invassion, however the details behind it are blurry and only the US Military have accurate information about what happened in Smallville, Metropolis and the Indian Ocean.
Of course Lois is a key witness and probably she will be the one that expose the truth to the world through the Daily Planet. However I don´t think that the world will accept Superman that easily and as the scene with Lieutenant General Swanwick shows, the US government remains suspicious about this super powered alien and how the US interests will affected by his existence.
I would like to see General Sam Lane in the movie having an argument with his daugther, after she begins to research about a mysterious government proyect under the code name "Soldier of Steel". This will give us some background about her and also works like the dynamic between General Ross, Betty and Bruce Banner in The Incredible Hulk. General Lane should be Superman´s enemy in Washington and probably he may have interesting links to Swanwick and the late Colonel Nathan Hardy. I can see Swanwick working for him.
What role should Lex Luthor play?
We have General Lane making things difficult for Superman in Washington, I can see Lex Luthor joining the general´s cruzade against Superman, but for other reasons. I can picture Lex like a smart business man and computer genius, like an evil Tony Stark. He is fascinated by Superman and see him as the ultimate challenge to his intellect.
Lexcorp should be like Haliburton, this huge corporation that earns government contracts to rebuild Metropolis and at the same time, develop technology to protect the US against future attacks from similar threats.
Should he be the only villian?
No, my choice for the main villian is Metallo, as he was used in Superman: Secret Origin by Gary Frank and Geoff Johns. Lexcorp receives a piece of Kryptonite, retrieved near Smallville, from the US government and Lex finds out how the rock affects Superman.
John Corben is General Lane's best soldier and he is after Lois, with General Lane's approval. He works with Lex trying suits of armour based on the kryptonian technology that the army also retrieved from Smallville. Lex uses Kryptonite to supply energy to the suit. After his first clash with Superman, Corben is badly injured and Lex turns him into a Cyborg, however in the process he loses his mind and becomes a major threat, not only to Superman but to the people of Metropolis.
How are they going to introduce more characters from the DCU to build up to a Justice League movie?
Lexcorp is not the only big player seeking government defense and civil contracts. Wayne Enterprises, represented by Lucius Fox, is also developing technology. Under general Lane's supervision, Lexcorp, Wayne Enterprises and Star Labs are part of a network that is investigating Superman and the Kryptonian technology. However Fox is not confortable with this business relationship and let us know that Bruce Wayne, the company's main share holder is not happy either and eventually terminates the contract.
Lucius helps Superman to defeat Metallo by revealing the weak point of his Cyborg body. Lexcorp rejects responsability for the destruction caused by Metallo and Superman earns the trust of the government and the population, by preventing another tragedy. General Lane quits and the President appoints Amanda Waller as Secretary of Metahuman Affairs
At the end we can see that Clark is reading secret papers about Meta Human activity in other US cities and begins to wonder if he is alone. We also see Bruce Wayne reading the same report in the Bat Cave.
Is it a good Idea to introduce Kara in the second movie? If so, How?
If the Bat Cave is not a Cliffhanger enough, they can show Kara waking up in a secret government facility. Amanda Waller and the Intelligence Officer, Colonel Steve Trevor, talk about a possible link between the girl and the mysterious amazons that Trevor found during a secret mission few months ago.
What do you think? I would like to read your opinions.
