The story of RDR goes....
John Marston is a former outlaw and gunslinger, and ex gang member. After an accident, that involved Marston being abandoned by the people he once considered family, he gave up the life of a criminal and became a family man. However, the government has ordered Marston to go back to his gun slingin ways, and kill his former friends. If Marston refused, his family would suffer the consequences.
...That's RDR in a nutshell
How could the movie work?
An Idea I had was this film is being told by a man at a campfire with a bunch of settlers listening in. The man talks about the life of John Marston. This way it could cut back to the campfire, he'd say something like 'John Marston traveled to Mexico for his old friend Javier, and there he found him. Javier had no chance, and there in a pool of his own blood he died' Now, while the man says this, a few cartoonish images can flash of John going to Mexico, finding Javier and killing him and returning to America. The man can also throw in 'And Some say, the Mexican reveloution could not have happened without the help of Marston'.
Marston could travel back to America and be told by A government messenger, that Dutch is hiding in A native fort west of blackwater, and that they are waging a small battle against the Natives, during the battle Marston could find Dutch on the top of the mountain and Dutch jumps off like in the Game.
Edgar Ross lives up to his end of the deal and gives back Marstons family. However, a jump to 3 months later shows the family farm in ruins, and John and Abagails body laying lifeless in the fields
Jump back to the campfire, a settler asks the man ''what happened to Johns son?'' the Man raises his head, revealing a scar similar to Jack Marstons. Smile to the side of the camera. BLACK...
As for introducing Characters, ex. Nigel W.D. They can each remain an important character however, by an hour into the movie Marston should already be in Mexico and the supporting characters in America should not be seen again showing they've gone their seperate ways.
This is how I'd make a RDR Film, we each have our own idea on how this film could work, do you like mine? do you dislike? do you have something you'd change? COMMENT BELOW.
p.s I'll write more of a storyline of what I think should happen, this was just a brief example of what I beleive would work nicely
