Taking insperation from the animated 'Teen Titans Go' series and the comic series Volume 3 which ran from 2003 - 2011, I may lightly touch on the Young Justice series but not by much as I never watched much of it sadly, but I'm aiming for a dark tone which would seem more suitable for a teen based team in these hard times (thug life and all that).
I'm not going to cast any characters but I'd love to hear from you guys and gals who you'd cast in certain roles, so without much a do here I go.
Title - Teen Titans - Sidekick's No more
Plot -
The streets of San Francisco at night, a speeding car rushes through traffic, three armed robbers sit in the car arguing about the bank robbery job they're on the run from failed, two police cars speed up behind them with their sirens blaising, the robber in the back leans out the window, machine gun in hand he starts spraying bullets at the police sending one car crashing into a lamp post.
The other car suddenly pulls to the side, all three robbers look forward and gasp as they drive through a cloud of thick smoke, as the car comes from the smoke we see the front tyres have been punctured with small batwangs.
The car skids into a brick wall and the robbers escape in a daze into an alley way, the three men limb through the dark alley, all hurt from the crash, suddenly the first robber drops unconsious and we see a small bat dart in his neck, the second robber opens fire and from above is smacked in the face with a long metal bo-staff.
The robber drops to the ground and the third looks on in horror, a hooded figure leaps from a ladder onto the ground and approaches the last robber, the robber wide eyed looks on as the figure gets closer, in a sudden panic the robber dives forward to punch the figure, but quickly the figure evades the attack and breaks the man's arm.
We then see the figure step out of the shadows and introduces us to, Robin the boy wonder a sixteen year old Dick Grayson, the robbers eyes open even wider as he looks around,
"Where.... Where is he?"
Robin's scowl tightens,
"He isn't in charge of me anymore"
Robin knocks the man out and disappears into the shadows as police sirens get louder, across the city there is a young Victor Stone, looking down at his hands, one a normal human hand the other a shiny silver metal, Victor closes his eyes and we get a quick flash back.
S.T.A.R. Labs, a lab filled with scientists rush to contain a ball of energy,
"Hold the portal!"
Shouts Dr. Silas Stone, we see Victor sneak into the lab looking for his father, suddenly the ball starts to grow larger breaking the equiptment meant for keeping it stable, the scientists rush behind a protective unit, Victor is exposed to to coming out from behind a desk, Silas see's him and screams as the ball of energy explodes and what looks like a monsterous arm comes from the portal inside the ball and rips Victor in half with a quick slash.
Victor stands up and walks over to the large window of the family pent house, he looks at his reflection in the glass, his robotic red eye shines in his face and in a fit of rage he smashes the window with great strength.
Meanwhile in a large park a woman sits on a bench reading, dog comes from the bushes and she smiles before welcoming it, raising her hand to clap it, as the dog moves closer she see's that it has green fur, this scares her and she runs away as the dog transforms to human height and size, the green skinned, fifteen year old Beast Boy calls out to her,
"What, never had a owner/pet fetish?"
Beast Boy sits on the bench, and leans back looking up at the stars, then squints as he sees three stars combine into one and shoot down to earth, he leaps up as the star gets bigger, the star appeares to be a falling meteorite.
As Beast Boy transforms into a cheetah he begins to run, only to be outran and then tripped by Wally West/Kid-Flash, Kid-Flash asks Beast Boy if he still 'belongs' to The Doom Patrol, this shows they've met and have a rivalry as Beast Boy yells he doesn't belong to anyone.
The Two start to scuffle, when suddenly a dark burst of black smoke causes them both to stop, Raven appeares closing the smoke in the form of her cape, she tells Beast Boy she had thought he was over this immaturity, even calling him Garth showing that they too have met before.
Raven then goes to say she came to see the meteorite for herself, as it gets closer it breaks apart but still appeares to be so big that it will cause considerable damage, before the meteorite hits Raven throws a shadow sheild over the three of them and the meteorite smashes down aroudn them.
As they attempt to leave the area they are caught in a suprise attack by alien soldiers that come down with the meteorite, as Kid-Flash, Beast Boy and Rave fight off the forces, Robin appeares and helps, when a larger alien turns up, the group of four prepare to battle when a strong blue light blasts the alien from behind.
The alien lies dead and a shocked looking Victor Stone stands, his metal hand transofrmed into a blast cannon, Beast Boy in the form of a hawk flies over to Victor and congradulates him asking what his 'Super' name is, Victor confused tells them he hasn't got one but when Kid-Flash asks why he turned up to help them Victor say's his head told him to.
Meanwhile Robin who has been quiet has found a large pink glowing meteorite, Raven appears behind him and asks what it is, Robin tells her he isn't sure and reaches for a communication device before looking away and putting it back (this is taken in by Raven).
Victor suggests they take the meteorite to his fathers lab at S.T.A.R. Lab's but Kid-Flash says they should look into it themselves, Beast Boy keeps cracking jokes about this being a team up and Kid-Flash says,
"If this were a team up you'd be the team mascot"
Robin asks Victor if there is a way they can tak the meteorite to the labs without being seen, Victor using his robotic tech built into his head sneaks the group in as they carry the meteorite.
In the lab Robin examines the meteorite when suddenly it cracks open, inside they see a sleeping Starfire, she awakes and attacks the group but when she see's that Robin is obviously only human she calms down realising that she is on Earth.
She explains to the group that she has escaped her home planet of Tamaran, where her sister has tried to have her killed due to jealousy that Starfire is next in line to be queen, Raven tells Starfire that she has a similar problem but is interupted by Kid-flash asking if more aliens will come.
Meanwhile Victor has stumbled into a room where his 'blueprints' are held, he realises that he is now more machine than man.
As the group decide to face the idea of an alien attack, Beast Boy and Kid-Flash argue about what to do, Kid-Flash suggests that they should go to the Justice League where as Beast Boy belives they can deal with it on their own, when asked what Robin thinks about going to the Justice League Kid-Flash thinks Robin will agree due to Batman but is suprised when Robin is against it.
Victor enters the lab and says his father has a back up lab in the hills just outside the city, on the waythere in Victor's jeep Starfire is amazed by the human world, Kid-Flash flirts with her and so does Beast Boy which annoys Raven, at the back up lab Victor showing a knowledge of the equpitment (due to the wide database built into his head) sets up a wide scale tracking device that will tell if any attacks occur.
Robin is outside and seems to be lost in thought, Raven who has been watching him asks why he is no longer working with Batman, but Robin declines to talk about it, Raven joins the others inside and it turns out Starfire was watching she asks Robin if he and Raven are 'mates'.
The group spend a week living in the lab, we see them as their personalities clash, while others form freindship.
All the while we see Robin stuggle to ignore Batman as we see a scene in which he ignores a phone call from a 'Bruce W', Kid-Flash and Beast Boy struggle to hate each other as we see they are more alike, Victor finds uses for his new abilites and Raven and Starfire experience the good things on earth.
We are not given a lot of detail on why Raven acts so strangley as she just stares at Beast Boy when he asks about her 'Demon problem'.
The group detect an attack in the city and race to help, in the city Beast Boy and Kid-Flash argue about how to take the battle and this leads to a great deal of damage to the city, Robin manages to help the situation by taking lead and ordering them to seperate into two groups, Victor, Beast Boy and Raven take the flying aliens and those attacking citizens in tall buildings, while he, Starfire and Kid-Flash deal with those on the ground.
Before running into battle Victor transforms his robotic arm into a battle cannon and a thicker set of armour emerges to his aread armoured body, he then smiles and tells the team to call him 'Cyborg', they set off into battle.
During the battle Cyborg uses his cannon to shoot through floors of buildings to send alien attackers down to the ground, Beat Boy changes into different animals to fight off aliens and Raven attacks using sorcery, Robin uses his bo-staff to fight back and other gadgets, Starfire uses her alien abilities and flight to fight while Kid-Flash races around knicking foes back.
A building falls and Robin and Cyborg join forces to save the people underneath, during this time Robin shows some emotion as he wipes tears from his eyes, Cyborg asks why he isn't with Batman anymore, Robin tells him that he messed up.
Cyborg tells Robin that he knows a thing or two about messing up and last time he messed up he ended up waking up with a metal body, the two save everyone in danger and head back into battle.
As the battle appeares to be on their side things get heavy as the sky goes dark, Blackfire (Starfire's older sister) arrives and delivers a heavy attack on Starfire, when Starfire tells her that she can be queen since she has no interest in it, Blackfire smashes her to the ground telling her she must die for Blackfire to become queen.
A huge battle insures and the rest of the group try to help citizens escape the damage their battle is causing the city, Starfire struggles to fight her older sister and begins to cry telling her that she always tried to be a good sister before putting both her hands on Blackfires head and using her powers to kill Blackfire blasting her.
In the damage caused by the battle Kid-Flash and Beast Boy see through their differences, Cyborg and his father see each other and comes to terms that Victor will now be a hero, Raven tells Beast Boy that she'll stay if he does, to which beast Boy assumes that they are now a team.
As Starfire emerges from the damage she is met by crowds of people asking her name, the group realise the whole city are celebrating their win and are now calling them heroes.
Beast Boy loving the attention from women is dragged away by Raven, the group gather on top of a building and Kid-Flash and Beast Boy argue about what to call their team, but Robin isn't up for joining a team until they convince him they all share things in common, they've been looked at as sidekicks their whole career's, always being seen as the younger version of a hero not an actual hero.
Robin decides to stay when Raven points out that it wasn't until he took charge that the battle was won, Cyborg then tells the team he has something to tell them but it can wait til the next day.
The team meet at the site of Silas Stone's back up lab, Victor tells the team that as a way to get back in his good books Silas has had plans made for a headquarters base for the team to use, he holds up the design his father has given him, we then see the actual Titan Tower revealed and on the Tower's roof the team stand all in agreement that they should call themselves the Teen Titans!
After the credits we see the Tower begin watched on a screen, we also see footage of the battle on other screens with the titans profiles displayed on screens above, foot steps are heard entering the room,
"So should we let this happen? are they ready?"
The camera turns and we see Superman stood in the door way of the room, the camera turns down to whoever is watching the screens,
"Alone I'm not sure....... But together yes, they are ready"
It is revealed to be Batman, he looks up at Robins profile and the screen fades to black.
