Question: in Avengers, was the blue stone in Loki's scepter the mind gem from infinity gems? Mind gem is the blue one in the comics and Loki used it's power to control and corrupt people's minds.

Also, since the infinity gauntlet was just laying in Odin's vault without anyone seem to care to use it, I have a theory: the gauntlet's power is known in the galaxy, but no one hasn't yet managed to get it work probably, so Thanos believes that he can get it work by useing the tessaract as kinda of starert-up-engine for the gauntlet. That would explain why he wanted to have tessaract in the Avengers, even thought if he had much bigger goal on his sight.

I almost don't want it to be the Mind Gem.

I also don't want them to do an Infinity Gauntlet story. At least nit until they introduce a LOT more cosmic characters. If they don't do that, and this just happens in an Avengers film, the IG will have to be so watered down it will be laughable.

Unfortunately, that seems to be the case.

Something that always bothered me was this. In Avengers, Loki had to touch people with that staff to mind control them. The Mind Gem is way more powerful than that and certainly doesn't need to touch people in order to work. Not only that, but Loki mind controlled that professor guy in the after credits scene in Thor. So why exactly did he need the staff and Mind Gem if he could already control people's minds without it?
