The folks over at Latino Review have bagged another hot DC scoop, and it finally uncovers the big mystery surrounding who exactly will play the big and bad Darkseid in Legion Of Superheroes."Our sources tell us that person is Michael Shannon," reveals the Latino site. Considering the upcoming DC space epic is in post-production, Shannon is expected to only provide the voice of the "machiavellian" character as opposed to wearing prosthetics or CG markers. However, given the Oscar-nominated actor's celebrity, and the grey supervillain's 2012 debut in Justice League (played by Damion Poitier), as well as the fact that Legion Of Superheroes director Ruben Fleischer has said many times that his film is definitely connected to Justice League 3, expect Shannon to actually portray Darkseid against the world's greatest heroes... eventually. That is of course after they take on Bryan Cranston in Justice League: Forever Evil, in which Variety reports Darkseid is also expected to make an appearance.
UPDATE: The Wrap has confirmed Latino Review's scoop, and echoed Variety's note that Darkseid will also appear in Justice League: Forever Evil next year. However, despite the many characters already in Marc Webb's upcoming Justice League sequel, The Wrap adds that Darkseid "will have a more prominent role" in that film than he does in Legion Of Superheroes. What do you think?
DC's Legion Of Superheroes expands the DC Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Rokk Krin finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Mordru, a powerful sorcerer with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Mordru, Krinn is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits–Brainiac 5, an intelligent robot, Chameleon, a shapshifting alien, the telepathic and enigmatic Saturn and the galaxies most-wanted Garth Ranzz. But when Rokk discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand - with the galaxy’s fate in the balance. DC's Legion Of Superheroes is presented by DC Entertainment and stars Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, Kodi Smitt-Mcphee, Timothee Chalamet as Brainiac 5, Charlie Rowe as Chameleon, Oscar Isaac, Nicholas Hoult, Evan Peters, Patrick Stewart with Woody Harrelson, Glenn Close as Commander Rael and James Remar as Mongul. Distributed by Warner Bros. Motion Pictures, the film opens August 1, 2014.
