While John Krasinski played Mister Fantastic in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, The Office alum isn't expected to reprise the role in Matt Shakman's Fantastic Four reboot.
That would explain why we've endured months of rumours about who will be the MCU's Reed Richards, though there's been lots of chatter surrounding Sue Storm, the Invisible Woman, as well. Even recently, paparazzi photos of Mila Kunis meeting with Shakman set the internet on fire over the possibility they might be discussing the matriarch of Marvel's First Family.
Now, Deadline's Justin Kroll has shared a far more reliable update. He explains, "While the film won’t shoot till top of [2024], word around town is the Marvel will begin gearing up casting process of [Fantastic Four] this month."
"No names rumored for now but the belief is the focus will be casting Sue Storm first and building out the rest of team after she is set," the reporter adds. "Just to be clear, even if something is getting active or gearing up, could still be weeks or even months before we have our four actors given how thorough the studio and Feige are."
It's interesting that Marvel Studios is starting with Sue, though she is the most powerful member of the team and this hopefully means the MCU is taking her seriously.
While we're guessing names for Reed, Sue, Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ben Grimm/The Thing will start doing the rounds in the coming months, it wouldn't be remotely surprising for an official announcement to be made at Comic-Con. That won't be until July, so patience could be key here.
No story details have been revealed for Fantastic Four, though there are some very interesting rumours doing the rounds.
Fantastic Four is set to be released in theaters on February 14, 2025.
