Movies.com are hearing that Josh Gad is Fox’s number one choice for the role of Ben Grimm, aka The Thing, in Chronicle director Josh Trank's upcoming reboot of the Fantastic Four. They only post as a rumor themselves, but cite sources "from within casting circles close to the film". Gad is a fine comedic actor but definitely seems like a slightly odd choice for the gruff, tough as nails Grimm. We still don't know if this version of The Thing will be the actor in prosthetics like Michael Chiklis in the other movies, or a completely CG creation..but it's more likely to be the latter in which case Gad (or whoever is cast) would perform via mo-cap and provide the voice. Anyway, if this is legit, how would you guys feel about it?
