Quantum Creation FX posted their in-house tests: Tomar-Re (voiced by Geoffrey Rush) for Martin Campbell's Green Lantern and the Herald of Galactus (played by Doug Jones, voiced by Laurence Fishburne) for Tim Story's Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Neither of these character designs ended up being chosen for either film, but it's always fun to see what could've been. Do you like these versions better?



GREEN LANTERN was directed by Martin Campbell, from a script written by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Michael J. Green, and Michael Goldenberg. The film starred: Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong, Tim Robbins, Taika Waititi, Temuera Morrison, and Angela Bassett.










FANTASTIC FOUR: RISE OF SILVER SURFER was directed by Tim Story, based on a screenplay by Don Payne and Mark Frost. The cast included: Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, Michael Chiklis, Julian McMahon and Kerry Washington. With a budget of $130 million, the film pulled in $289 million at the worldwide box office.

Very underrated movies. Yes they were no Dark knight or Avengers but they werent as bad as everyone makes them to be.

I for one enjoy both of them.

the Green Lantern suit would have been 10x better if it was an actual suit and not completely CGI, that arm alone looks better than anything they had in the movie lol

Would love for Laurence Fishburne to return to voicing Silver Surfer if Fox ever decides to use Surfer again on the BIG screen. Fishburne has that deep, powerful voice that fits Surfer perfectly. I think that was one of the very few things that I can find entertaining in FF: RotSS.

@M79 - Right? I could never get myself to like the style that they went with for the GL suits (not that I hated it, but it was really "meh" and didnt appeal to me). I get that they were heading more towards making the suits more foreign and alien-like, but I think that they could've done better with it.

I didn't take the FF movies super serious and thought there were cool for what they were. And when else would I ever get to see Silver Surfer in live-action voiced by Laurence Fishburne. The Galactus cloud was disappointing, but who really thought there'd be a giant man floating in space wearing a big ass costume.

A lot of people give the cloud Galactus in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, but Galactus did actually appear in a cloud form within the comics. I think the creative team behind the film indicated that they were actually planning to show Galactus's true form within the sequel but sadly it never happened. They were trying to build up the character however it backfired on them...

Sucha [frick]ing fail overuse of CGI in GL. CGI suites? WTF. Well whatever, at least it was a total shitfest. If it had good things about it, that would make it worse because those elements wouldn't be able to be used in a reboot.

yeah i liked the cgi suits too; what i don't get is why hal's looked like he'd been peeled. tomar was scaly, kilowog was armory... so why did hal's look like the underlying musculature? oh, i know... because martin campbell is a !@#$ing idiot, that's why.

that suit and the tomar re mask look way better than the cgi. get some animatronics for the beak to have him speak, tweak the beak a bit with cgi, and bam.

You know having Galactus as a fart cloud was fine with me but to the fans that actually wanted to see him when he was near the Earth wanted to actually see Galactus.

FF2 Is still my favorite movie simply because my favorite fiction character of all time was in it. Regardless of how terrible the representation was...SILVER SURFER WAS IN THE MOVIE!!!!!! :D

Silver surfer's cg looked fine just the movie sucked. Tomar Re wouldve looked way better as prosthetics
