From Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Peter Jackson comes “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies,” the third in a trilogy of films adapting the enduringly popular masterpiece The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien.

“The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies” brings to an epic conclusion the adventures of Bilbo Baggins, Thorin Oakenshield and the Company of Dwarves. Having reclaimed their homeland from the Dragon Smaug, the Company has unwittingly unleashed a deadly force into the world. Enraged, Smaug rains his fiery wrath down upon the defenseless men, women and children of Lake-town.

Obsessed above all else with his reclaimed treasure, Thorin sacrifices friendship and honor to hoard it as Bilbo’s frantic attempts to make him see reason drive the Hobbit towards a desperate and dangerous choice. But there are even greater dangers ahead. Unseen by any but the Wizard Gandalf, the great enemy Sauron has sent forth legions of Orcs in a stealth attack upon the Lonely Mountain.

As darkness converges on their escalating conflict, the races of Dwarves, Elves and Men must decide – unite or be destroyed. Bilbo finds himself fighting for his life and the lives of his friends in the epic Battle of the Five Armies, as the future of Middle-earth hangs in the balance.

Finally, and when this is done, no more Lord Of The Rings franchising please, stop milking it.

I will cherish the first 3 LoR films, as they are bloddy brilliant, but to make 3 films out of one book?!

Come on mate!

Neither of them are in the Playoffs.

@AFreeMan

No Bilbo does not become a badass hero here, at least he shouldn't, his most courageous act here is standing up against Thorin who is becoming mad with greed. I don't want to give to much us else away but he should not be going out slaughtering orcs and goblins. In actuality none of the dwarves are badass warriors really they are greedy cowardly con men looking to take as much treasure as they can from Smaug's hoard. They were really never looking to take back their kingdom they were just looking to steal as much treasure as they could to live fat rich lives. They also send in Bilbo alone because they are all too cowardly to try and face the dragon themselves. Yet that wouldn't make for a good tent pole movie having all of your cast save Gandalf be cowards now would it.

I wonder if Bilbo gets knocked out in the middle of the battle like in the book.

I hated the first one. I have Smaug on DVR, should I bother watching it?

Hobbit was good. I watched it on Netflix only because there wasn't any other new releases at the time - and i was surprised how much i liked it because i was thoroughly sick and tired and all-precious'ed-out by the end of the first trilogy.
Desolation of Smaug (again on Netflix) was ok but although well-done I found it quite boring and just going by the Peter Jackson Middle-Earth template for the most part.

Precious'ed out again now. I care more for my toilet-mat than I do for watching the conclusion to the prequel trilogy. I'm like: "Dear God please let it end already!"

the only part of the 2nd one I liked was that he had to put on the ring to understand the spiders. that was a cool touch

not a big fan of the Hobbit movies so far though

@MexicanChinman

So what if it has been 3 years, that still doesn't make it ok.

I'd rather Peter Jackson do some more original movies, instead of trying to milk this as much as possible.

I have no problem with the Hobbit movies, just the idea behind it makes me furious.

Did you know that it was supposed to be 2 movies at first and then they changed it to three. Again, it's ONE book.

If one whole book of the LoR could be made into one movie, I fail to see the legitimate reason why this needed 3 seperate movies. Only thing is box office money, these movies bring in a huge audience and they know it.

It's pathetic and really tones down the creative thinking that goes in to these movies.

So me getting over it is not the problem here, rather the big picture is what is worrying me.

Peter Jackson orc to have known better than to string-out the prequel trilogy for another 3 butt-numbing movies (if you know what I'm Tolkien about)

@Scorpion

My favourite book.... which part though? It covers far too much time to do it all, hell, Jackson could make those movies till he dies and never get even a quarter of the way through it.

I'm assuming you mean the story with the birth of the Dúnedain and the army of white elves marching out of the west to overrun Mordor and take Morgoth back for judgement in chains?
