DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: HONOR AMONG THIEVES Teases Sinister Villain On New Poster; Featurette Promises Epic Action

A new featurette for Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves has been released that includes plenty of amazing footage from the upcoming fantasy movie, but is this the adaptation fans of the game want?

Paramount Pictures has shared a new featurette and poster for Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (via SFFGazette.com), the highly anticipated big screen adaptation of the hit board game from directors Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley.

While there are those who have their doubts about the movie, it looks like an enjoyable ride that's not taking itself too seriously...which is part of the problem for some fans. There may well be a version of Dungeons & Dragons that's a full-blown fantasy blockbuster in the vein of The Lord of the Rings, but this looks commercially friendly - and pretty fun and dumb.

In the featurette, we get to see how the cast embarked on this adventure and are treated to plenty of new footage from Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves along the way. As for that poster, the A-List cast is highlighted (including the big bad), and short of the movie being a total disaster, we have to believe this take on the game has all the makings of a hit.

What longtime fans will make of this one is hard to say, though with tens of millions of players worldwide, they're likely to play a crucial role when it comes to making or breaking this adaptation.

In the movie, a charming thief and a band of unlikely adventurers undertake an epic heist to retrieve a lost relic, but things go dangerously awry when they run afoul of the wrong people.

The impressive cast includes Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page, Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis, and Hugh Grant.

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves brings the rich world and playful spirit of the legendary roleplaying game to the big screen in a hilarious and action-packed adventure, and it's set to arrive in theaters on March 3, 2023.

This looks like the 2023 version of the Jeremy Irons film That came out in 2000. Why is it so hard to do a D&D film with medieval type clothing and real fantasy aesthetic like Lord of the Rings or even something more modernized like John Carter? All they have to do is pick up just one D&D book from the last 40 years and look at the cover. It’s a shame that an 80s cartoon is the closest we’ll ever get to a proper D&D film.

@Biggittyb76 - I actually kinda like this approach. But I do admit, it looking like Medieval Fantasy would've been cool too

It looks bad. I honestly don't get all the stupid, quippy, wannabe humor. Its tired, and played out.

I'm pretty excited for this. It's pretty much what I imagine in my head how a D&D game plays out.

@bkmeijer1 - All D&D campaigns start as Lord of the Rings and end up as Monty Python's Quest for the Holy Grail.

@Reeds2Much - yeah, I guess indeed. This looks like it would be later in a campaign then, and I don't mind that at all
