Yes, I am reviewing the recently released, 'Immortals'. It was released on 11-11-11, same day as Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (sorry for the shameless plug).
Right off the rip, I will give you my rating.
I really enjoyed this movie. It had a deep sense of purpose, a ton of manly action, and a super hot female lead.
Cinematography:
At first I thought that this movie was gonna be exactly like '300'. I couldn't have been more wrong. Sure, it took some inspiration as far as visuals go, but '300' didn't pull as many awesome special effects out of it's ass like 'Immortals' did. There wasn't any cheesy close-up shots, and the action scenes were handled well. My favorite scene was the ending, where Theseus and Hyperion duke it out. The camera action was just epic.
Story:
It has a pretty basic story, when you break it down, but many people couldn't accomplish what 'Immortals' does as far as interpreting Greek mythology. You just can't include so many characters and mythological figures and still make a good film like this one is. It's not a wonder like the original 'Clash of the Titans' was, especially since the new one wasn't a wonder at all, but I think 'Immortals' story was great. It had me reeling until the very end.
Acting:
Top notch.
Henry Cavill, in the first role I've ever seen him in, was fantastic. He pulled off every line without sounding dumb, and his chemistry with the female lead was spectacular. Frieda Pinto, who portrays the oracle Phaedra, was hot as hell. I mean, seriously, she was smoking like magma. And -- you will not be displeased with her. I don't wanna SPOIL it, but she show's some skin! Excellently sexy woman. I can't wait until 'Immortals' comes out on DVD so I can upload some beastly screenshots.
Overall:
'Immortals' may be deeply underappreciated. I may not have written a 5 page thesis on the damn movie, but you can understand me if I tell you that you just can't go wrong with tons of blood, gore, action, hot girls, and a super sci-fi story straight from Greek Mythology.
