Variety reports that Guillermo del Toro will produce AND direct Beauty and the Beast for Warner Bros. Credited as a co-writer on both instalments of their two-part adaptation of The Hobbit, he passed on the opportunity to helm those movies before the The Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson decided to take charge. The studio has also hired Bridget Jones's Diary's Andrew Davies to write the script, while Emma Watson is in final negotiations to star in the lead role. Stay tuned for more details.

This is going to be great!
Emma is a goddess, and an amazing actress!

I hate Disney, I must say...But, the true tale of Beauty and the Beast is great!

I can't wait for this...it better go dark like the original tale, before Disney!

Del Toro has rarely disappointed so Im looking forward to seeing it. Hopefully it has his trademark dark fantasy elements. I want to see something similar to "Snow White and the Huntsman".

Del Toro? YEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Beauty and the Beast was one of my FAVORITE movies as a child. And now one of my favorite directors is going to helm the live action movie! /joy

The only thing is.. I don't really see Emma as Belle. I have nothing against her, but she doesn't really suit the role IMO. But oh well, Del Toro is on the job so i'm happy.

@sarahsatire....Yeah, Beauty and the Beast was one of the 2 Disney movies I enjoy!

And, I doubt this will follow Disney's version...So, she wouldn't be Belle, she would be the Beauty, but not Belle...
I think she is great!
Great age, great actress, wonderful face....So, bring on a new fairy tale!

Can anyone be more perfect for this?? NO! Del Toro is a master effects artist, and hell he draws a tome for like every movie he makes..

I can't wait to see his take on the Beast..

Hmm.....interesting. I always pegged Emma Watson for the Sleeping Beauty role.

I know this version will be darker but I love Disney movies.

Going to Disney World again this summer, can't wait.

He's perfect for this movie. Pans Labyrinth is one of my favorite movies. And its very close in tone to what a good high budget Beauty And The Beast movie should be. I'm in.

AAAAAND...We need Hellboy 3. Jussaying.

I see, I see. That makes more sense. If anything, I'm definitely curious how this will turn out.

I'm ESPECIALLY looking forward to how Del Toro is going to make Beast look. With his imagination, it ought to be good.

@sarahsatire....He is really good with imagination! So, I hope the "Beast", has a very dark, but human like look...Not just a werewolf like creature....But, an actual beast, but still handsome, you know?

And, I hope they don't use someone like 20 years older than Emma...that would be creepy as hell!

Awesome!:)

Not sure if Emma is the right choice as Belle thou!

Anyway Gerard Butler would make a great Beast and Henry Cavill the Prince or both Beast and Prince.

Beauty and the Beast was kinda recently done and modernised in the form of 'Beastly' not great .. but I'd love Del Toro to do Sleeping Beauty with Angelina Jolie.

But, I can see Beauty and the Beast being pretty visualistic and beautiful with a director like him (:

This was one of my favorite Disney movies when I was a kid.

I can't think of better director than Guillermo Del Toro to direct this movie. With his imagination we're going to see some amazing things.

I think Emma Watson is a good actress and cute, but I don't think she's the right choice for Belle. They should go with an actress who is a bit older, because I'm assuming who ever they cast as Beast is going to be much older.
