HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD Movie Might Finally Be In The Works At Warner Bros.

It always seemed inevitable that the Harry Potter and the Cursed novel play would be adapted for the big screen, and it sounds like that's the current plan at Warner Bros. Find out more details here...

The Harry Potter movie series reached its end with The Deathly Hallows, though Warner Bros. managed to stretch the seven book saga into eight big screen chapters by splitting that novel in two.

We've since had a couple of Fantastic Beasts movies, though the second wasn't particularly well-received at the box office or by critics. Excited for the third instalment is somewhat muted as a result, but what comes next for the franchise once that story reaches its conclusion?

Talking at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecommunications Conference, WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar teased where the Wizarding World could head after Fantastic Beasts

"There's this little thing called Harry Potter, which is one of the most beloved franchises," he started (via The Hollywood Reporter). "And we're incredibly thankful to be able to partner with J.K. Rowling and so I would argue there's a lot of fun and potential there as well."

The trade reiterates that this could be in reference to the rumoured live-action TV series coming to HBO Max, but note that "on the movie front, there's talk Warner Bros. could be developing a new tentpole based on the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child stage play."

The original cast still aren't old enough to play the older versions of themselves, but might be once Fantastic Beasts finally wraps up. Whether they'd be interested in returning is another matter (Emma Watson has done well since, and likely hopes to move on from Hermione Granger). The Cursed Child hasn't received the warmest of responses from fans, so this should be one to keep an eye on...

Go ahead and make it, it's just as bad as fantastic beasts, and all you care about is money anyways. Yikes

They're already stretching Fantastic Beasts into a a third movie, so I can easily see them do the same with the Cursed Child

@DarkDetective - wonder if that'll actually happen. But still, those plans are prove they can stretch one book into a lot of movies

@Ha1frican - I think most people enjoyed the first fantastic beast. It’s the crimes of grindelwald everyone hated

@MrDandy - I actually enjoyed that one a lot more lol The first one I was pretty bored I didnt care for any of the characters but with Grindelwald I was interested to see him and Dumbledore as thats what I wanted most from this franchise was more of their relationship

@MrDandy - Nah the first one feelt to much like pokemon to me. The second however I enjoyed but I do like to see the origin of evil. It had a kinda fascist take which was interesting and creepy. Don't get all the hate for it..

The plays script may be one of the most garbage pieces of fan fiction I’ve ever read.

I’m okay with an epilogue movie but just start from scratch.

I wonder if Daniel would ever comeback to the franchise. I believe I read he began to have a drinking problem due to the fandom or I may be mixed up but whatever the case there has to be some mixed feelings there.

He’s worked hard to not be known as “Harry Potter” so him going back to that world would put him right back as that identifier even more so than it is right now.

@MyCoolYoung - Not only that, but I remember him being extremely tight with someone from the LGBT community (I think a trans man). I don't see how he can reconcile his friendship and solidarity with Rowling's active participation.

@FortWaba - I didn’t know that either. Wonder if he said her or me would wb pick him(hypothetically because I don’t even know if they could do that to her)

@MyCoolYoung - well, the way the tabloids were framing it (all the way back in 2011 or something) he was actually dating a trans man. So I'm pretty sure this issue hits home, so I respect him even more for being so diplomatic about this.
