Ten years after Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 brought a close to their decade-long journey, Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley), and Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) are set to reunite on one very magical night for Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts, an HBO Max special event that will premiere on New Year's Day, January 1, 2022.

The long-awaited reunion will celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the first film, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, and will see the iconic trio also share the stage with their original director Chris Columbus and a wide variety of their legendary co-stars, including Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange), Robbie Coltrane (Rubeus Hagrid), Ralph Fiennes (Lord Voldemort), Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy), Gary Oldman (Sirius Black), Imelda Staunton (Dolores Umbridge), Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy), James Phelps (Fred Weasley), Oliver Phelps (George Weasley), Mark Williams (Arthur Weasley), Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley), Alfred Enoch (Dean Thomas), Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom), Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood), Ian Hart (Quirinus Quirrell), and more.

While an official length is to-be-determined, the retrospective will delve into the making of all eight films with new in-depth interviews and cast conversations, so it should be well worth the wait. 

Additionally, the special will only be a timed HBO Max-exclusive, and will make its global debut on TBS and Cartoon Network in Spring 2022, ahead of the April 15th theatrical launch date of Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore.

The retrospective special Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts will tell an enchanting making-of story through all-new in-depth interviews and cast conversations, inviting fans on a magical first-person journey through one of the most beloved film franchises of all time. The highly-anticipated retrospective will be a capstone event of the holiday season, dropping as the clock strikes midnight on New Year’s Day, Jan. 1, on HBO Max. The special will also debut on TBS and Cartoon Network in spring 2022 ahead of the Warner Bros. Pictures theatrical debut of Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore and will roll out globally with more details to come.

Fans can jumpstart their Wizarding World celebration and gear up for the retrospective by checking out the 20th anniversary hub content on WizardingWorld.com. An exclusive first look at the special will debut during the premiere of Harry Potter: Hogwarts Tournament of Houses on Nov. 28 (8:00 p.m. ET/PT) on TBS and Cartoon Network. The bracket-style quiz competition, hosted by Helen Mirren, will feature fans competing to take home the Tournament of Houses championship trophy and will feature magical cameos by Harry Potter film alumni Tom Felton, Simon Fisher-Becker, Shirley Henderson and Luke Youngblood, as well as superfans Pete Davidson and Jay Leno. The epic, four-part competition event will also begin streaming on HBO Max on Jan. 1.

@WaffeX - when I first heard of the this project I thought it would be an original story taking place in the Avatar world. Making it a direct remake of the masterpiece original series is a horrible idea and I suspect this is going to be at worst terrible and at best…fine.
