Warner Bros. has released the first clip for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (via Yahoo Movies), and it shows off some pretty magical special effects. Eddie Redmayne stars as wizarding world magizoologist Newt Scamander, under the direction of David Yates, who helmed the last four Harry Potter movies. The screenplay was penned by the author of the Harry Potter novels, J.K. Rowling.

According to the synopsis, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them opens in 1926 as Newt Scamander has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident…were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of Newt’s fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.

The cast also includes Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Samantha Morton, Jon Voight, Ron Perlman, Carmen Ejogo, Jenn Murray, Faith Wood-Blagrove, and Colin Farrell, and it’s currently set to be released worldwide on November 18, 2016. Are you excited for the movie?

Can't wait for this movie. Between this and Doctor Strange, November is a magical month.

That said, a lot of the CGI I've seen from this movie is dodgy.

After Doctor Strange this magic is child's play

@Craigferguson67 - pretty much my opinion too. While I've never really been excited by the whimsical take on magic by Rowling, its been fun at times.

But Strange makes it violently psychedelic and infinitely out there in a way that's rousing and captivating. Magic in the MCU is MC Escher on LSD, Molly and Percocet haha

Hopefully, this is better than the last magic movie I saw.

I was excited for this but for some reason as I saw more and more tv spots and footage, I lost interest. Newt doesn't seem like a compelling or interesting protagonist AT ALL. While the supporting cast is stellar, its not enough for me to want to see this ASAP.

And magic in the HP Universe is fanciful in a way where none of it hits me. It doesn't grab you imo. I mainly love the HP series for the characters.

This movie looks dull as shit. Not to worry tho, we already got a good magic movie in Doctor Strange so we can just skip over this one.
