Amazon's upcoming Lord of the Rings series has found one of its leads in the form of Will Poulter.

The British actor reportedly won the highly sought-after role after an extensive search, but specific details on the character he'll be playing are being kept under wraps for now.

Poulter most recently appeared in Netflix’s acclaimed Black Mirror movie "Bandersnatch", as well as and Ari Aster's Midsommar. Before that, he featured in The Maze Runner franchise, The Revenant, and Detroit. He joins Aussie actress Markella Kavenagh (Picnic at Hanging Rock) as another mysterious character named Tyra.

We still don't know a whole lot about this take on Tolkien's classic, but it is expected to be a prequel of sorts to the original trilogy, set during The Second Age.

@knocturnalzen10 - It explores the fierce sexual tension between Frodo and Sam and how it ultimately led to the downfall of Sam's marriage and his relationship with his kids. It was pitched as Brokeback Mountain set in Middle-earth.

@knocturnalzen10 - @knocturnalzen10 - We're actually nowhere near all the books being covered. We've had four of six books with (mostly) chronological stories adapted and 16 more of history, short tales, songs, and other myths within Middle-Earth. They could have multitudes of seasons with all the existing lore.

@knocturnalzen10 - The Lord of The Rings covered the third age of Middle Earth, with the ring being destroyed and the elves leaving for West starting the fourth age.

This series covers the second age of Middle Earth. This would perhaps include the rise of Sauron, the gradual fall of Elves as the main power of Middle Earth among other things.

Seriously though. Had me fooled. Maybe it's because it's always so short or the Hollywood lighting. It always looks like it has that red tinge to me. Or maybe I'm color blind

@Battabing - I guess. She's a little more Janine Cody than Carol Brady though, so it surprises me from time to time. Then again, if she was Carol, I'd probably have a serious Oedipus Complex being told that.

Never understood why he freaked and quit social media with a cryptic dramatic message after Bandersnatch was released. I guess some people on Twitter made fun of his character's look, but that just seems like a mundane thing that happens whenever anything gets released. He didn't even look THAT strange and his character was kinda out there anyway so there was a story reason. That was a weird thing that happened I remember, hope he's doing well, he's good in everything I've seen him in.

@SpideyPuffsMJ - I fully support anyone quitting social media. Especially one particular Cheeto head.
