The second in a trilogy of films adapting the enduringly popular masterpiece The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien, "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" continues the adventure of the title character Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) as he journeys with the Wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen) and thirteen Dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) on an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor.

The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug hits theaters this December.

Love the LOTR/Hobbit series. I hope the series doesn't end with the Hobbit. Maybe they could use The Silmarillion.

@beto

how about "Planescape Torment" ?

jerryblake - 11/11/2013, 10:57 AM
there are so many better fantasy tales than LOTR that can be adapated into the movie(s).

Tolkien in totally unreadable for me.

Funny thing : the more Jackson is focusing on making the movie and not adapting Tolkien then the happier i am.

Hobbit is a good example.

I have to agree that Two Towers was the weakest LotR movie by far. I can't believe what they're doing with a charming little book like The Hobbit. CGI action everywhere, and gorram elves that don't belong in the story.

And they ignore Beorn almost completely in official promotional stuff. Mabye 'cause he looks like shit. :(

That's a good one :)

JoeMomma29 - 11/11/2013, 11:37 AM
LOL! What do you guys expect based on a children's book? Honestly I am shocked they did not write in scenes for the additional Wizzards the Two Blues though their names are never mentioned in the book.

jerryblake - 11/11/2013, 12:14 PM
@bbporto

if Hobbit 2 will be medicore i'm gonna see part 3 from BlueRay Rip like I did with first one.

I wanna see part 2 in cinema.
God only know if they gonna make this film tight instead being lousy like the first one. That last final fight ...
Abomination.
jerryblake
jerryblake - 11/11/2013, 12:17 PM
But then i liked this movie better than part 2 or 3 maybe because there was only one hobbit not 5. Dwarves are such more interesting characters. Plus Gandalf The Grey is so much better than Gandalf The White.

Legolas is growing on me. Young badass Legolas is so much better than that older sissy.
