This past weekend, Disney+ brought Percy Jackson and the Olympians to New York Comic Con. Those in attendance got to watch a special sneak peek with never-before-seen clips from the upcoming series - which, as we write this, haven't been released online - and were surprised with an appearance from best-selling author and series executive producer Rick Riordan.

Fellow executive producer Rebecca Riordan was also on hand (the cast was conspicuous by their absence due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike), as were series executive producers Jon Steinberg, Dan Shotz, and James Bobin, who also directed the first two episodes.

They were joined by four members of the production team, production designer Dan Hennah, costume designer Tish Monaghan, VFX supervisor Erik Henry and ILM VFX supervisor Jeff White.

Following the panel, a list of the show's impressive guest stars has also been revealed (via SFFGazette.com), and they include:

  • Lin-Manuel Miranda as "Hermes"
  • Megan Mullally as "Alecto" aka "Mrs. Dodds"
  • Toby Stephens as "Poseidon"
  • Virginia Kull as "Sally Jackson"
  • Jason Mantzoukas as "Dionysus" aka "Mr. D"
  • Jay Duplass as "Hades"
  • Glynn Turman as "Chiron" aka "Mr. Brunner"
  • the late Lance Reddick as "Zeus"
  • Adam Copeland as "Ares"
  • Charlie Bushnell as "Luke Castellan"
  • Dior Goodjohn as "Clarisse La Rue"
  • Jessica Parker Kennedy as "Medusa"
  • Suzanne Cryer as "Echidna"
  • Timm Sharp as "Gabe Ugliano"
  • Timothy Omundson as "Hephaestus"

Lance Reddick (RIP) was a phenomenal actor but casting him as Zeus makes this entire production questionable.

I am gonna try checking this out and I will say I'm curious to see how the characters of some of the Greek Gods are handled like Ares since Edge's playing him and Toby Stephens as Poseidon.

But someone who has gotten a lot of praise has been Jessica Parker Kennedy as Medusa, the fanbase has given her a lot of feedback for that smart design that covers her eyes with that hat and veil, it just makes her look all the more mysterious.

Lance Reddick though will be the most interesting one. RIP you legend.

If you have never read a Riordan book, they basically always work like this: There is always a prophecy, a macguffin, a ticking clock that never actually seems to matter, Percy, Grover and Annabeth just kinda bumbling through America, making a stop somewhere and trusting a random person who is OBVIOUSLY A MONSTER, fight, fight fight, rinse and repeat until the final enemy is slain in a way that seemed way to simple, then back to the Camp and somehow... the book has over a hundred pages left.

They are not bad. They are just... an undertaking. I love his characters and his early books, but he followed the same basic concepts and formula for over 20 years now. And my god, please give Percy a few more IQ-points Rick. You of all people should know that being legasthenic does not mean being dimwitted.

@Drace24 - Riorden’s books were always too YA for my tastes, but they do integrate the mythology fairly well. I hope they can adapt the Kane Chronicles as that is my favorite series from him and we need some great Egyptian mythology on screen.
