Now I was trying to come up with a way to describe my intense love for the Harry Potter books...Harry Potter Junkie is sadly the final result. But notice I said books. I do love most of the movies, the first four that is. The last two upset me by leaving out to many important things and replacing it with pointless extended romance. With that out of the way let me begin my review of the first of a two part movie in which we follow Harry's Quest to destroy Voldemort and is Horcrux(Minor Spoilers):

The Deathly Hallows starts of with a different Opening then the book pushing the original book ending back a scene. The scene just happens to be the scene following the books original ending as well as actually showing some moments only mentioned later on. Then we jump straight into the original opening which is a very good scene featuring Voldemort and his faithful Death eaters at the Malfoy's Manor.

Some characters left out from past movies are well placed in this final chapter. After being upset that these characters were left out from past movies I was happy to see creative ways to bring them in without distracting from the story at hand. Characters such as Bill Weasley and Mundungus Fletcher are introduced in a way that makes you completely forget they were never there before.

The plot sticks very well to the book with a few scenes added just for the movie. Thankfully these scenes are great to the exception of one. Overall it is still a great flick with a story that drags you right in. The few changes they do make either have no effect or actually improve the story in some cases. This first film does a great job filling in MOST gaps from past films and gets every major one needed. Now even with the changes I can not help but love this movie. The two part split gets rid of a major problem from the past films, that rushed feeling that you get almost every time a book or comic is adapted. Deathly Hallows Part 1 flows right through to the end leaving you with an anticipated feeling for the second part(and I know how it ends already.

Now I wont go into specifics but the ending is great. For one book to be split into two movies, a book that really shouldn't be, They seemed to have worked out a great way to end it. This of course goes against my speculation that we would see a Sopranos cut to black in the middle of a scene ending.

I know it was not the most detailed review but now we have my final verdict. The movie gets a 5 out of five. If your looking for a straight up adaption or hate past Potter films this movie may not be for you. Potter film fans will enjoy this movie because it feels like the same large story is being told.

Harry Potter And The deathly Hallows Part 1 hits theaters November 19, 2010 directed by David Yates and staring Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Ralph Fiennes, Bill Nighy, John Hurt, Rhys Ifans, Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane, Imelda Staunton, Jason Isaacs, Miranda Richardson, Warwick Davis, Alan Rickman, Maggie Smith, Brendan Gleeson, Timothy Spall, David Thewlis, Julie Walters, Tom Felton, Bonnie Wright, Jamie Campbell Bower, Richard Griffiths, Matthew Lewis, Evanna Lynch, Fiona Shaw, Helen McCrory, David O'Hara, and Natalia Tena

I've been bored with this franchise since the third movie lol, can't believe its 5 stars in a million years.

Still, glad you enjoyed it.

What makes me extremely upset is that they didn't split the fifth and sixth movies into two parts like they should have.

Did anyone else feel like they completely threw Snape out the window? He was my favorite in the books and his questionable loyalties always intrigued me. He was without a doubt one of the most important characters in the Potter mythos. But in the films his story has been so watered down that Part 2's epic reveal will feel completely random and pointless. The sixth movie was supposed to be literally all about him. After all he was the Fricking Half-Blood Prince!! But Snape felt like nothing more than a bit character in it.

I don't think I can forgive the movies for utterly spitting on the most compelling character in the series. It's a shame too, because Alan Rickman really put his soul into what could be considered only a minor character in the films.

LEEE777 your reading a biased review from a self proclaimed Harry Potter Junkie. Also sense the last book has a lot of insanely important stuff they split the movie in to two parts to make sure nothing is left out.

Also almost dropped a book of magic reference when saying non-potter fans may not like this i was going to put or people waiting for a books of magic movie

To all the idiots saying they are trying to milk it by making it two parts, the truth is that they should have made every single movie into 2 parts. There has been sooooooooooo many things that have been left out cuz the movies werent long enough.

i agree that every movie should be 2 parts. especially order of phoenix. 800 freakin pages. but they chose to do it on 7 only...even lotr should be 2 movies each...

@Denn1s To be honest, if LOTR was spread over 6 films (as magnificent as I find them),
I don't think I would have got to movie number 3.

Nice review, maybe I'll go see it. Didn't like the last movie, and didn't like the last two books in general. But this one might be good...

@indoraptor12
They really screwed Snape! My favourite character from the books, and Rickman was great. It's sad how amazing it could have been if he had been given the screentime Snape deserved.

That's scene is probably showing what Hermione did to her parents I'd bet they dont show the epilouge first ruining the suspense. Im sure the chapter on snapes memories will be done in full and give full justiceTo Allan Rickmans preformance. They wqill not skip over anything important now they cant!!!
