Deadline is reporting that JJ Abrams has found his writers for the featured film version of Boilerplate. Abrams and Paramount Pictures have hired JD Payne and Patrick McKay (Goliath, the Old Testament). Boilerplate is a movie that follows a robot in the late 19th Century that is built for battle. During the robot's battles it'll come into contact with many famous historical figures like Teddy Roosevelt and Pancho Villa.

Paramount Pictures and JJ Abrams’ Bad Robot have hired JD Payne and Patrick McKay to write the script for Boilerplate, based on the Paul Guinan and Anina Bennett graphic novel Boilerplate: History’s Mechanical Marvel. Bad Robot will produce with Outlaw Productions’ Deborah Newmyer. The storyline: the robot Boilerplate was built in the late 19th Century to replace men in battle. The robot is depicted in the Spanish-American War and WWI, and is pictured Zelig-like in meetings with the likes of Teddy Roosevelt and Mark Twain.

Opinion: The movie sounds like Forrest Gump with a robot. Looking forward to it? Nope. Would I give it a chance? Yes, we are talking about JJ Abrams here, and his movies are worth at least a glance.
