It seems Darren Aronofsky knows the that there is one sure-fire way of adding a bit of gravitas to your movie, and that's stick Sir Anthony Hopkins in it..

So Hopkins will play Methuselah, the world's oldest living man who dies at the age of 969, seven days before the beginning of the Great Flood.

NOAH is a close adaptation of the Biblical story of Noah’s Ark. In a world ravaged by human sin, Noah is given a divine mission: to build an Ark to save creation from the coming flood. The screenplay was written by Aronofsky and Ari Handel and revised by Academy Award®-nominated screenwriter John Logan (GLADIATOR, HUGO).

Scott Franklin and Aronofsky of Protozoa Pictures, along with Mary Parent of Disruption Entertainment, will produce the film. The film will be executive produced by Ari Handel (BLACK SWAN), Arnon Milchan of New Regency and Chris Brigham (INCEPTION, ARGO).

Noah is set to sail into theaters March 28th, 2014 and stars Russell Crowe, Saoirse Ronan, Douglas Booth, Logan Lerman, Emma Watson, Ray Winstone, Anthony Hopkins. The film is directed by Darren Aronofsky.

This may be good, but I can't help but wonder what Paradise Lost would have looked like.

Makes me sad that Paradise Lost was scrapped.

thanos83@ Yes. It was done by a bunch of 2000AD and Dredd guys. The Graphic Bible, from Titan. Besides, it's Aronofsky, who at one time or another has been working on directing Batman: Year One, Watchmen and the upcoming The Wolverine.

Paradise Lost would've been awesome. It's the studios fault. Proyas isn't going to make a lesser film, he'd just as soon not do it at all, so I'm glad about that. But I was soooo looking forward to that movie.

I know Aronofsky will nail this film. He's a master.... but I really would have killed to see him do Wolverine. :(

Fantastic addition. My most anticipated film for 2014.

@Intruder: A new King David flick would be awesome. Christian Bale's my pick to star.

As a Christian myself, I'm personally excited about this film. I also agree with everyone who wanted to see a movie about King David. David's entire life would be too much for one movie (unless you made it about 6 hrs) but a movie with him as a teen killing Goliath and then becoming king would be awesome. It would have to be rated R if they want to make it Biblicly accurace.

I mean "Accurate" not "Accurace", lol.

There should me more then just a King David movie. It should be a trilogy of the 3 Kings. First Saul, then David and finally Solomon. That would be an epic trilogy.

From now on, every time I feel the world is getting to that Batman and Robin stage, I'm gonna scream
"REBOOT THE PLANET!!"
