It's been a while since we've seen some new footage from this one, but A24 has finally released a new trailer for The Green Knight, and it gives us a much better idea of what to expect from the story.

Directed by David Lowery (Pete's Dragon, Ain't Then Bodies Saints), the film is based on the tale of Sir Gawain and The Green Knight, and stars Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire, Lion) as the gallant Gawain as he embarks on a perilous quest to face the invincible knight (Ralph Ineson) of the title in order to prove himself worthy of a seat at Arthur's (Sean Harris) Round Table.

If you were wondering what the "one year hence" tagline was all about, this latest teaser makes it very clear, as Gawain steps up to accept the Green Knight's offer to take him down with a single blow. Unfortunately, the deal means the supernatural being gets to deliver an axe stroke of his own exactly one year later!

Check out the new trailer below, and let us know what you think.

"An epic fantasy adventure based on the timeless Arthurian legend, The Green Knight tells the story of Sir Gawain (Dev Patel), King Arthur’s reckless and headstrong nephew, who embarks on a daring quest to confront the eponymous Green Knight, a gigantic emerald-skinned stranger and tester of men. Gawain contends with ghosts, giants, thieves, and schemers in what becomes a deeper journey to define his character and prove his worth in the eyes of his family and kingdom by facing the ultimate challenger. From visionary filmmaker David Lowery comes a fresh and bold spin on a classic tale from the knights of the round table.”

This looks incredible! Arthurian legend has always fascinated me, and Dev Patel is a GOAT. Stoked to see this in theaters

As a fan of medieval history and literature, this looks well filmed and pretty interesting to me.

Unfortunately, any attempts at adapting Arthurian legends have been nothing but massive failures over the last decade or so, so we'll see.
