From that, I'm thinking that most of the movie is going to be spent in Mirkwood, and will probs end with the door being open in the Mountian.

second will probably end when bilbo goes into the lonely mountain

Freeman say she shares screens with Smaug, and the official still from the movie sees him rolling around in his horde..so I think the second movie will end with a certain Bowman doing his thing.

True Ror, but the Unexpected Journey trailer showed us Gandalf going into Dol Guldor himself, and that didn't happen sadly

I'm looking forward to the scene with the spiders, the barrels, and BEORN! But what I'm looking forward to the most for part 2 has got to be......

@RorMachine: I think that's what's gonna happen. There is a lot of great stuff going to happen in the second film I wonder.. What will we get, besides the more than epic battle of the five-armies, in the third film??????

Beorn & the Mirkwood elves should be phenomenal.

PJ said that the barrel scene takes place early in the film. I can't see it as any earlier than about halfway though, there's quite a bit to get through before the barrels

Either way I bet the film will be awesome, I really do hope we get to see Smaug full on in this one.

The film ends with Smaug's death! 3rd film is battle of five armies and a bridge to LOTR. I assume Bilbo's journey home won't be as simple as Frodo's.

Though I loved the Hobbit i think "The Desolation of Smaug" will be maybe more fun and more eventful. I felt only Radagast was sort of out of place in AUJ. Beorn will be great to see and it'll get a bit darker with the spiders and Dol Guldur and Smaug. I'd be surpised if they hold over Smaug for "There and Back Again". His death by Bard the Bowman and the dwarves re-entering Erebor is a good semi-happy ending before we see Bilbo and Thorin have a falling out over the Arkenstone and the elves and men in "There and Back Again".

Yeah, An Unexpected Journey was awesome!!

But, just out of excitement, does any of you think we can expect a teaser for The Desolation of Smaug before the new year?? I mean, the teaser for An Unexpected Journey also came out around the new year of last year...

We won't get a trailer for #2 until April probably. That's consistent with The Two Towers. I bet maybe there'll be a trailer for There and Back Again at the credits of "Smaug" since #3 comes out July 2014.

@MB007 It's hard to say, usually we got teasers for the next LOTR movies around the time when the DVD was released, may be the same for The Hobbit.

Bring on Desolation of Smaug!!!

I had the impression that the 2nd film is gonna end with the death of Smaug. Then the teaser for the 3rd film was the build up to the Battle of Five Armies. The Attack on Dol Guldur would probably be split up between the two depending on how they're gonna handle that. Though there could be enough with Beorn, the spiders, and the Wood Elves to keep them busy in 2...

I have a question......when they first showed Azog after the hunting of the dwarves failed on Bruinen...where they in Weathertop? Those ruins looked very familiar

@ elessarundomiel2382: No, the third film will be released half a year from the second one, that's right, Middle-Earth in the summer!
