Adrianne Palicki Discusses Playing Lady Jaye In G.I. JOE: RETALIATION

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Adrianne Palicki dicusses her "tough girl" role as Lady Jaye in the soon to be released G.I. Joe: Retaliation. She comments on training with Navy SEALS and Harry Humphries. "We trained with Navy SEALS. Harry Humphries is a retired SEAL, so he's actually one of the original so he brought his whole SEAL team to train us and they're actually in the movie with us, guiding us, which was the most nerve-racking part because if you mess up, you know they're going to be pulling you aside and scaring you." She also assures that her character is "very well written" in the 3D sequel, and that she holds her own despite being the only female in the team. "Thankfully I love the character and she's very well-written. She's a tough girl. She's got a little bit of a chip on her shoulder. She's like the only chick around all these guys so she kind of has to hold her own. She's the intelligence in the group; she's the weapon specialist. So there's a lot to carry with that."

Palicki then comments on working with action stars Dwayne Johnson (Roadblock) and Bruce Willis (Joe Colton). "They're both so different, you have Dwayne who's like an action figure and then you have Bruce, who's John McClane. They're both so different — and they're both so funny in different ways. Neither one, oddly, were intimidating." Finally, she talks about reshoots for the film, saying that they only did two days worth and added one scene. "A lot of that was false: We did like two days of reshoots. They added one scene. It wasn't really a big deal — it was like the normal reshooting situation. Actually we lucked out because it was only two days. But I think it adds to the film completely."

G.I. Joe: Retaliation stars Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Channing Tatum, Bruce Willis, Adrianne Palicki, D.J. Cotrona, Byung-hun Lee, Ray Park and Ray Stevenson. The film is set to hit theaters March 29th.

It doesn't inspire confidence when a character looks nothing like their comic book counterpart.

But there's no way this movie can be worse than the first one.

@Pooh

Would you rather Jane Lynch play Lady Jaye?

The 80s GI Joe cartoon was the first to present a butch cartoon character in Lady Jaye. Give me Scarlet or Baroness every time.

@ cipher
Know exactly where you are coming from. Every male on my moms side served, and most of my dad side served. Atleast one member of my family fought in every war since the civil war. Growing up i loved christmas and thanksgiving, when all the fam got together, and started talking shit and telling stories. My granddad and one uncle always had the best stories/talked the best shit, so I ended up in the marines like them. Ah the memories.

@ParisSun, In addition to the cartoon there are also GI Joe comic books.

I do like Baroness, but it would be ridiculous to change every female character so they're more like Baroness.
