SUICIDE SQUAD Director David Ayer Insists GOTHAM CITY SIRENS Is Still Happening

There's been a lot of speculation in recent months that the female-led Gotham City Sirens is never going to happen but director David Ayer has now claimed that the movie remains very much in development...

At both the San Diego Comic-Con and the Comic-Con Experience in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Warner Bros. showed off a series of title cards for upcoming releases but Gotham City Sirens wasn't among them. That's led to speculation the movie - which is expected to revolve around Harley Quinn, Catwoman, and Poison Ivy - has been scrapped, especially after some choice comments from director David Ayer.

Well, when Collider recently caught up with the Bright helmer (which has been declared the worst movie of 2017 by some critics), the site asked where things stand with Gotham City Sirens and he replied, "It’s in development." Unfortunately, he refused to elaborate but that's definitely a good sign!

Interestingly, these remarks come hot on the heels of comments made by Suicide Squad star Margot Robbie about her return to the role of Harley Quinn next year. "Everyone has been working really hard, myself included, to get Harley back on screen," the actress explains in a separate interview with the site, quickly adding: "I think it will be quite soon. There’s so much more to explore with her. I can’t wait! I hope next year, but with bigger films, it takes a lot longer to get it all up and running."

Warner Bros. needs to get cracking then and Gotham City Sirens does seem like a good use of Harley (more than that solo outing or team-up movie with The Joker, anyway). What do you guys think?
