The Suicide Squad director James Gunn and star Margot Robbie have both stated how much they enjoyed working with each other in recent interviews, and this has (inevitably) led to speculation that they might be planning to collaborate on another DC Comics project down the line.
At one point, a Gotham City Sirens movie was in development at Warner Bros. with Suicide Squad (2016) director David Ayer at the helm, but the studio ultimately decided to make Birds of Prey instead. A lot of fans still hope to see new takes on Poison Ivy and Catwoman make their DCEU debuts, however, and seem to feel Gunn would be the best man for the job.
Unfortunately, it doesn't look like GCS is on the filmmaker's to-do list.
Responding to a rather eager fan on Twitter, Gunn confirmed that he and Robbie have spoken about working together again, but not on a Gotham City Sirens movie.
Gunn is set to return to the MCU for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which is still on track (as far as we know) to begin shooting before year's end. So, even if he does have another DC-based project in mind for Robbie to reprise the role of Harley Quinn in, it'll probably be quite a while before we hear anything about it.
