@jazzman no. and i won't. WB spent $300 million on it. complete waste of money. running a 20% over at rotten tomatoes. it smells just like jonah hex and the new wonder woman tv show.

People are putting too much faith in reviews. I say go see it for yourself. For instance look at the Boondocks Saints, critics ripped that film yet its a cult classic amongst movie nerds.

regarding Helagood and his opinion. I've seen respond in other reviews about the film. He's straight Marvel so it's natural he will bash and go with the reviews. I don't blame him, reviews speak their opinion but with that said. I've skimmed through a few and some sound like their more pro-marvel more than anything. All the reviews throw in comparsions....why...Thor, First Class are all different class of character. The other thing i've noticed in the review is that fault comes in to the film not being long enough so everything feels rushed.

Which means all the actors and actress played, even some have said RR played a good Ryan. The only one who fell short was Peter Sarsgard. So any faults in the movie seems to be in the feeling of everything being rushed, not enough time. We have spoken about that, how the movie seems short for it's kind of story. [frick] it as long as it's entertaining and it brings in money, the 2nd will be made WB/DC will move on and learn from it's mistakes

Again, this class of comic book movie is it's first. It's in the scifi world, none of the comic book movies made in the past really haven't been to this level. Marvel fans, even Marvel is learning from this because they also have a lot of characters that live in this side. All their movies have been earth bound characters with Thor slightly in the middle of the 2.

I'm going to see, we all going to see and the haters will hate. It will make money it will be decent, I say about a 7.5 to 8 imo. And which isn't bad for the style of the movie.

And from the reviews I have been reading, the movie is a comic book nerds dream but fails to capture the genral publics eye. Green Lantern is a tough cookie to sell. I do know that this film will make back its budget but for the sequel WB needs to do a major overhaul. Choose a new CGI company and not make the suits CGI because thats another complaint I heard from some critics. But I will say this to the DC fans dont keep your heads down because I see the same Marvel Fanboys going on every article talking gabage as always. DOnt forget next year you got two heavy hitters coming out next year and one is a guaranteed box office success. But it does look like Marvel won the summer box office this year.

Not even if my girlfriend gets brutally murdered by a bicycle gang of baboons will keep me away from this movie this friday! Hell, if my brother calls from a basement because he is in a "Saw" situation, I am going to hang the [frick]ing phone up because this is it for me.
I have been waiting for this movie for years, and now it is here. No critics, assholes, boyscouts or anyone can keep my spirits down when it comes to this immense project. Yes, it will probably not be the best movie of all [frick]ing time, it will probably not be the best comicbookmovie of all time neither but goddamn it, it is the start, the groundwork for something much greater than anything I've seen in any cbms. It is Green Lantern. I will support this 100%. The sequel is where it's going to shine!

WE ARE THE CORP!

@ Cable23 - well said. I also see the same the critics don't know. To them it seems like bs, yada yada. It's not Gone with the Wind. Regarding the suit, 50/50 on the cgi, some say good some say other wise. The problem is it needs to be cgi, his suit can't be spandex. So if anything another cgi company. The critics I see seem to be more of a pro-marvel. I'm getting more of a issue with the time for the movie as if the script and movie was rushed. So I'm not sensing it's the actors or cgi. The only actor I've been reading that has come soft is Sarsgard.

At the end it will make money and a sequel will be out

Those who cannot do, teach. Those who cannot teach, become critics. Imagine being a talentless sap who spends his time sitting around deciding whether or not there's merit in another persons art. We're all critics. Our critique is shown by where our entertainment dollar is spent. Why the hell do these assholes get paid to share their opinion on something that they could never do in a million years, and why would we possibly give any credence to anything they say? They should be drawn out naked into the streets tarred and feathered. And then peed on. Boom.

@ toughgrappler - he even said it, this was all new to him. He's never done a movie with such large scale of cgi. Perhaps he was just the wrong director, no biggie. The sequel will improve on that, be longer and learn from the mistakes.

reed from the ny observer said the following, which doesn't make sense to me why he says this. I guess he doesn't realize the type of movie he is watching

The dialogue consists mostly of lectures about brain-eating bacteria, and the locations are identified as stuff like “The Edge of the Milky Way Galaxy.” It took four writers who shall remain nameless to think up lines like “We must harness the power of our enemies and fight fear with fear!” Or this favorite exchange: “Why are you glowing?” “Why is your skin green?” “What in the hell is with that mask?” At the screening I attended, the critics were laughing so loud I missed a few bon mots, but you get the picture. The director is Martin Campbell, who doesn’t.

I honestly didn't expect many critics to like it anyways. Most people I talk to that arent familiar with Green Lantern at all, aren't interested in seeing it at all. I'm still pumped!!! only two days left!

I actually love the result to these "negative reviews". Never have I seen this site and its members so united that they will hold their own judgement for the film. I think the general reviewers don't understand green Lantern and we do. BRING IT!!!!!!!!!

@Grif - very true,the best judge of a movie is yourself and critics sometimes do get some movies wrong.so i will check it out first day but the general public that is the question.

but i wont lie,i would have loved to see good critical praise as well but I guess i will have to find myself it's actually good or bad.one thing is for sure critics hate this movie now only the public opinion is left,hopefully that will be good becoz GL will need to do at least $180 mil domestically if it is to get a sequel and most importantly for other DC titles to launch it self.(cant believe WB gave GL2 and flash scripts to these same guys judging by the comments made by critics,what did WB see in them the critics didn't or can the critics be right and WB is totally blind n have no idea when making these movies)

but i am angry with WB/DC for not been able to make a movie which pleases critics since MARVEL does it so well,even though the box office isn't exactly mind blowing (x-men) other than batman and that is only due to Nolan.

@Bodwulf

No kidding. I read the IGN review and they said that all of the Oa and Corps scenes with all the big FX is barely 15 minutes of the 1 hour and 45 min film. How did they spend $300 mil when the last Transformers was 2 1/2 hours and full of better FX?

Also they said GL is so bad it'll kill any chance of a Justice League film.

@capfan79 f ign, lets just wait and see the film before everyone on here continues to bash it. as for a justice league film, i think were moving in that direction even if gl completely bombs, which i don't think it will.

OMG I paused the "critics" on that tv spot and they used Lauren Sanchez of Fox LA. She's not a critic at all. She's there to show off her boobs for ratings!

What a pathetic attempt by WB.

@Batman5

I've been pretty sure this was gonna suck since November so I'll wait until DVD. I'll be looking forward to all the broken hearted comments this weekend though!
