Green Lantern Movie Nearing!

Green Lantern Movie Nearing!

It sounds as if the ball has rolled a little farther along than we thought on the GL movie, as they've already picked Austrailia to film and are about ready to start scouting, with filming said to be set for mid-September.

March 19, 2009 - Producer Donald De Line has the bromance comedy I Love You, Man hitting theaters this weekend, but he's already talking about his next big project -- an adaptation of DC Comics' Green Lantern.

In an interview with the producer, Dark Horizons got De Line to divulge when the film is currently set to start shooting.

"The status is, funnily enough, we are leaving for Australia Wednesday night with Martin Campbell, our director, to go scout in Sydney and Melbourne, and we plan on starting to shoot mid-September in Australia," the producer tells the site.

He also goes on to say that no one has been cast yet in the film and that, as we've heard before, this is in fact going to be about the Hal Jordan version of GL.

Cool. They are doing a Green Lantern movie, but why is it always Hal Jordan? Thats why I loved JL and JLU because they had Jon as the Green Lantern. They should do Alan Scott. I wanna see Grundy on the big screen! Anyone else?
LEEE777
LEEE777 - 3/19/2009, 12:53 PM
It's never Hal Jordon!!! Its always Jon lol, though i hope Jon appears in it!! It would be cool if they did a ALAN SCOTT flasback somehow, that could be set up for a JSA movie!!! Now that would be EPIC!!! Set in WW 2 ofcourse!!! ; )

InstigatorGIRL - 3/19/2009, 1:10 PM
I only say that because they are making the animated movie about Hal Jordan in the New Frontier it was Hal Jordan. You see what I'm saying? Hal Jordan even made an appearance in The Animated Justice League series. lol. Can't remember if it was JL or JLU.
LEEE777
LEEE777 - 3/19/2009, 1:25 PM

Whats with you and solomon grundy....LOL...dude was like a retarded hulk...anyways Hal i think was the best GL no doubt johan hit the nail on the head...but more importantly who are they casting as GL....i hear ryan gosling might be it...i hope so he reminds me of a young edward Norton, very deep i think he can pull it off....maybe he should hit the gym but he'll be fine...which actor do y'all think is worthy to wear the 'ring'????

I really like the idea of this character on the big screen. I mean the sky is the limit. Especially with the special effects now a days. And if there is a good story behind all this I can't see how it won't be a big hit.
I never read DC comics(more of a marvel fan). I did and do like DC cartoons a lot though. I have to say I like what they have done with some of the DC characters in the movies thus far also. So I'm stoked about this one.

Neo24real. My dad was a solomon grundy fan he liked the storylines with him as a villian in the old Alan Scott stories and read them to me when I was little. So I just think it would be awesome for them to do a movie with him so my dad and I can enjoy it. Its for sentimental reasons. Also lol. I am a Hulk fan and I agree retarded hulk. lmao.

Neo24real - 3/19/2009, 2:00 PM
Oh wow...thats kool wasn't solomon grundy some mobster that was betrayed by friends and he becomes like a zombie??? Anyways i hope DC can fit him in as someones villain that would be kool...my dad was a star wars geek...i suffered through cheesy 'the force be with you' catch phrases until i was like 15...LOL

As long as they don't cut any corners and rush production and screw up the cast, I'm fine with it. They better do GL justice....

Well, obviously if they go with Hal Jordan hel be white!

Nathan Fillion for Green Lantern! [frick] that little bitch Chris Pine, give the part to someone with real gravitas. David Boreanaz is a good actor but im not sure hes right for it...although he did a great job voicing him in new frontier

I'm glad they're going with Hal Jordon for the 1st movie.

For the sequels, they can introduce the other GLs. My vote for Jon (in one of the sequels) is Will Smith, but he may be done with Superhero movies since he's already done one, Hancock.

As an Aussie, I'm honoured to have this movie being filmed in our country, typically we stay out of production though we have lots of great make-up, costume and computer graphics workers. It's also alot cheaper to film in Australia so they should be able to stretch a massive US budget to make this film as epic as it should be.
thenumber12
thenumber12 - 3/19/2009, 9:13 PM
The best pick for Jon would be Common.
Phinehas
Phinehas - 3/19/2009, 10:11 PM
Now I have no problems with filming where it is cheapest, but is it a little odd to anyone else that the recent George Miller Justice League flop was going to be shot by a largely Australian crew with an almost entire Aussie cast? Are we going to see some sort of connection (or collusion) to have some sort reintrepretation of something the fans heartily rejected? I am suspicious of WB/DC right now. What the heck are they brewing here?!?!
BTW, Batman was filmed in Chicago, what is wrong with choosing another U.S. city when we desperately need to promote work? In the words of Patrick Henry, "I smell a rat!" If Australia is being chosen for some sort of exotic or other-than-American feel, I could understand that (I guess?), but Hal is an all American type character. This is weird.

Thougts, people?
Unmasked
Unmasked - 3/19/2009, 10:32 PM
I will say this....Everybody seems to want Hal
as the Green Lantern, but I say it's time to
have more african american heroes. No offense to
the comic or nothing but it's true. People want to
see a little bit of themselves as these heroes.
So if Common were to be GL, it would give the movie
more diversity.
KeepItReal
KeepItReal - 3/19/2009, 10:56 PM
I would love Hal Jordan to be played by DAVID BOREANZ. He seem so perfect for it doing the voice over in the movie & he is a good actor.

They should start from the beginning with the GL's and have the GL appear in the order we were introduced to them.

I agree with Phinehas..Hal is an all American so it should be done here. Australia is beautiful but it's not about that.

I know why dont they make the movie Black Panther? It would be great if Michael Jai White can play him. Storm can be played by Aisha Tyler... I wish they would play their origins of how Storm saved T'challa when they were young & years later they marry. It could be a movie with so much potential. I love Blade! I think WEsley Snipes did a really good job bringing his character to life on the big screen.
THEHAWK
THEHAWK - 3/19/2009, 11:03 PM
No offense but it should be Hal first. He was the first member of the Green Lantern Corps in comics. He came first, you could technically say Alan Scott came first, but no chance seeing him. But I am going to say something that will probably piss alot of people off. You should not pick a character because of race. That is reverse racism.

How about a Black Panther movie, oh wait Wesley Snipes bought the rights to a film version before he skipped out on his taxes, and he tried to buy Steel.

I like John Stewart better than Hal, he is more relatable. But he did not come first. And as for actors Common is kind of a bad choice. He has done 5 movies, and he was only good in American Gangster.

If you want an actor for John howabout Tyrese Gibson. He has done some great performances, 2Fast 2Furious, Transformers, Flight of the Phoenix- not a great movie but he was good. He can easily out act Common, and his perfomance in an action film would be more believable.
KeepItReal
KeepItReal - 3/20/2009, 3:10 AM
Tyrese Gibson? He hurts my eyes when i look at him! LOL. I could see him fighting yes, but he doesnt look like Jon Stewart to me.He seems too wild in his roles, loud & Jon is more reserved, controlled IMO.

I like Idris Elba from Daddy's lil girls or Darrin Dewitt Henson from Soul Food, Stomp the yard. They look about the age of John Stewart.

Damn that Wesley! Always skipping around all over the place! With the girl scouts, on taxes. Why dont he make the movie... I guess he could be BLack Panther...or Michael Jai White. They both fight very well. But since he has the rights I guess he will be the cat. He is not getting any younger he needs to hurry up!

Morris Chestnut would make a great Jon Stewart and Michael C Hal (dexter) for Hal.

Why do they have to have one GL. I say put three human GL's with three alien GL'S.

1. Hal Jordan -Serious role-Action-Team leader
2. John Stewart- Action-Hot head.
3. Guy Garner-Comedy
4. Kilowog- Alien Genius
5. Katma Tui- In love with John Stewart.

, and another alien.

Keepitreal-you are so wrong. Michael Jai White is a terrible choice for Black Panther. He is a terrible actor. He may know how to fight but the guy can't act at all. Spawn was a terrible movie. Djimon Hounsou for Black Panther. Need I say more? Although some of his movies weren't the greatest, he's an excellent fighter and actor. (Amazing movie) Gladiator? The Island? Constantine? Blood Diamond? I know where your getting at with Tyrese Gibson though TheHawk. Maybe not an excellent gl though. I can see him being more of a Luke Cage. I'm not sure though.. Hal is a must for the movie. Patrick Wilson or Jeffrey Dean Morgan would be excellent but they were just in a super hero movie. The most epic super hero movie ever.. WATCHMEN

To:ngclarkiv0880.. PERFECT... OMG! You're so right! I totally forgot him... yes... he would be IDEAL as BLack Panther. I agree he is a good actor & fighter. Good one.. very nice indeed. I wish they would make The BLack Panther movie. It could be good in so many ways if they cared enough to make it.

I dont know, Michael Jai is not that bad an actor but he can fight.

Tyrese definitely Luke Cage, that I can see.
