I will make this review SPOILER FREE. Went to see GREEN LANTERN last night and even though I'm more of a MARVEL fan and GL was never on the top of my list of DC heroes, IT ROCKED!!!!! My goodness, the special effects were amazing and the costumes looked even better! These people out there that are bashing the movie must not have seen the Justice League movie from 2001. Even though it was never aired there are plenty of bootleg copies out there. For those who say that Green Lantern is a great movie for 15 years ago, PLEASE listen to what you're saying! Take a good look at the photos from the never released movie and tell me that comic book movies have not come a long way!

Ryan Reynolds played the part just as good as anyone could have. The entire casting overall I thought was great! The main villain's effects could have been a little more realistic but I can forgive that due to the complexity of it. The things that the ring creates are awesome and at times humorous. To me the movie had a great mix of drama, comedy, and action. All the members of the corps were fantastic especially Sinestro. The guardians in my opinion could've looked a little bit better but what the heck, its a movie!!

Being someone who grew up in the late 60's & early 70's, seeing characters like this for the first time on the big screen is a dream come true! I always wished for the time to come when all of the comic book heroes could come to life thrill us comic book fans and that time is now. It can only get better!

I really thought that it was a great adaption of the character. For those that are bashing how its not in space enough and how the story was off it almost completely true to the comic "Green Lantern Secret Origins" there are of course a few things that they added or subtracted but as a whole its that comic. I personally have always been a Green Lantern fan and he has always been one of my top two superheroes next to the Flash. This was a great film and can only get better. Unlike other origin story's Green Lanterns is epic so its hard to tell it all in one movie so I hope it gets a sequel and fast!

I saw the movie today and I thought it was pretty dam good! I don't understand the bashing this movie is taking cause it does not deserve it. The CGI was impressive and surprisingly the acting was also good. I give GL an 7 out of 10 while holding my middle finger up at the critics

I saw Thor and loved Thor. I saw this a few days ago and I liked this flick well enough and also thought it didn't deserve the bashing its getting. Is it perfect? No, but hell, I can nit-pick any movie if I wanted. No lie, after this flick, the crowd DID INDEED cheer and applaud. This was a midnight showing with other fans, but still, they were happy.

Cap is around the corner and I'm excited for that as well, and the eventual Avengers next year. I REALLY hope this rakes in enough cash for a sequel and (hopefully) a JLA flick in the future.

Great review. I don't know the Justice League Movie your talking about but if you have or know where to find a bottleg let me know!

I loved the movie also. I was expecting it to be filled with a bunch of 1 liners and cheese from all the negative reviews that were out there. Apparently most of the early reviews, I feel, were a bunch of canned reviews from people who hadn't seen the film yet. I do think the movie would have been perfect had they added 20-30 more minutes. They didn't really show how powerful and how big of a threat Parallax was. They should have had Sinestro lead the Corp into an outer space war against parallax and had them lose. This would have shown Kilawog and everyone else in action all while Hal Jordan was having his pitty party back on Earth. There could have been some mass casulties that showed their rings floating away into space to find new hosts and the Corp, under Sinestro's command was forced to retreat. Then Sinestro goes back to the Guardians asking for permission to forge a new yellow ring only to have the idea shot down by the return of Hal Jordan who disagrees with Sinestro. They should have built a little more tension between Hal Jordan and Sinestro to help also set up the 2nd movie. 1 hour and 45 minutes wasn't enough time.

But other than that I thought the movie was great! maybe there'll be an extended Directors cut that will go into all that a little more.

GODDAMN RIGHT!

WTF IS EVERYONE'S PROBLEM???

*Ahem

Took friends to see it again today, this time in 3D.

This movie is going to hold up QUITE WELL over time.
It was well made and extremely fun.

Just like Thor. Just like X-Men: First Class. Just like inevitably Captain America will be great too.

Even though this generation is pretty much screwed with the economy, polution, and diminishing natural resources, we're living in the best movie era for comics ever.

Hey guys. I saw Green Lantern and it's
AMAZING!

And if green lantern are victim of a
INDUSTRIAL BOYCOTT by part of the critic
audience. They trying to [frick] this film since november 2010.

Something like: " NO MATTER HOW MUCH THE FILM BE
GOOD, WE WILL MAKE IT LOOKS HORIBLE to
PROVE WE ARE RIGHT!"

And the rest of people comes in the negative hipe. Would the Haters wins?

You need to think that the green lantern take a bite in very powerfull agents in 2010..this could be a influence match. A revenge.

No way in hell this filme could be THAT HORRIBLE.

It´s a lot better than a lot of shit that the industry make us watch over the last years!

It´s better than wolverine. Better than all the hulks and fantastic fours...

In the worse case is equal of ironman 2.

C´mon!

^^^ Totally agree with you all.
Saw it.Liked it.Equally as good as Thor.
They both share the same problems in my opinion.A flabby middle section that is too earthbound. But where as Thors action scenes and ending came across as a wee bit plain and short,Green Lantern went for it! The action was handled way better and there was more superhero time in the movie. As I said,as movies I'd rate them equally as good as each other, but I have the feeling that I'll be watching my GL Blu-Ray more often than Thor because of the action and effects. The sfx are taking alot of stick atm but I'd like to just point out The Destroyers terrible and clunky backhanding of Thor for balance.A worse piece of animation I have not seen in a looooong time! It should also be pointed out that its easier to animate inanimate materials.GL has living breathing characters to bring to life.Marvels movies have mostly used cgi for buildings and metallic characters,Ironman/Ironmonger/Whiplash/Hammeroids lol/Warmachine/The Destroyer.
There's alot of bandwagon jumping going on with regards to this movie. The first couple of critics gave it mixed reviews (not bad, just mixed),but its the way of critics to cut and paste each others articles for fear of being the odd one out.So now we're getting third and fourth generation reviews, each trying to make the film sound worse in a game of one-upmanship.And the Marvelites have put their blinkers on to anything un-Marvel and have pounced on these reviews and are writing their own in an effort to make their movies into something they're not,i.e.perfect.
In my showing the crowd were enjoying it.Laughing in all the right places etc and I heard nothing but positive comments on the way out.Especially from the kids that it is really aimed at.They lapped it up!Even my non comicbook fan brother enjoyed it and is looking forward to seeing Sinestro kick off in a sequel.
I'm happy with this movie as an origin and first part :)

MARVEL fans and anyone else, please DO NOT be fooled by the positive reviews of DC fanboys.

They need people to 'give it a chance' and go see this crappy movie so that it will not bomb at the boxoffice and give them a chance of getting a sequel.

It is cinematic diarrhoea.

It has had some critics begging people not to see it.

Its 'fresh' reviews on RT are fresh because they say the movie is great for 12 year olds.

It is an insult to the CBSM genre and fans of that genre.

Let it die at the BO and get flushed down the toilet like it deserves.

Noone involved in the making of that piece of sh!t had any true love for the project, but rather was just there collecting a paycheck. CBSM fans do not deserve this.

Supporting this movie financially is just telling WB it's ok to make utter crap with no passion or soul. You will be wasting your hard earned money.
