Green Lantern Sequels To Film Back To Back?

Green Lantern Sequels To Film Back To Back?

The word is that the sequel to Martin Campbell's Green Lantern will start shooting before the first one even comes out! With a third to follow suit.

This comes from Bleeding Cool, who appear to ahve been scmoozing with some of the movie's production crew around the New Orleans bars, where they heard this little gem of info..

...the word is that shooting on Green Lantern 2 is scheduled to begin before the first movie is even released.

So confident of a smash are Warner Bros, that they already making big plans to use current shooting location New Orleans as a stand-in for DC’s Coast City in the sequel, which will be announced for either a Summer or Christmas 2012 release, depending on where the Flash movie fits in.

And if the first film does the megabucks they are expecting, then Warners will greenlight a third Green Lantern movie to be shot back to back with the second, for release in 2013.

Pretty much a Lord Of The Rings type deal then. If this is accurate, expect cross overs. I just can't imagine they would film 3 movies in succession, with The Flash and another Superman coming out, without fitting one of em in somewhere. Also, providing this is on the level, this could seriously put a crimp in any plans for Ryan Reynolds to star as Deadpool in the proposed solo movie. As far as I know, he hasn't officially signed on for that yet!

As long as Reynolds has enough time to make Deadpool I can dig it

GREEN LANTERN 1 = HAL JORDON

GREEN LANTERN 2 = JOHN STEWART

GREEN LANTERN 3 = KYLE RAYNER

Oh and GREEN LANTERN PREQUEL = ALAN SCOTT!

Can spin a spin off TV series with GUY GARDNER too in it!

Very sweet find @ ROR!!! ; )

Nice if this is true, I've always loved momentum. Sorry to the Marvel heads who are waiting for Deadpool movie. My opinion let it go away so the rights can be reverted back to MARVEL and you'll get your money worth.

@lee
they should make a trilogy with jordan and a trilogy with kyle

@ Lee777 - Ryan/Hal might just be the main character on all 3 with some introductions to JS, KR and GG in the sequels.

Funny thing is....

We don't even need REYNOLDS for DEADPOOL!

His face needs to be all mashed up, to be a gr8 movie!

Blue @ Probably lol!

Char @ would be cool!

cool but it sounds too good to be true. back to back never turns out well. they are too sure of themselves and that is not good. wait for the first movie and then decide about the others. give the sequels time to develop so they can be great in their own way. WB, you made TDK. don't start screwing up now...

I agree with Denn1s...

Don't screw it up like Marvel's doing!

don't expect batman or Superman to fit in anywhere. Nolan has already said, numerous times, that his Superman movie will take place in its own world, with NO OTHER HEROES.

HAL IN ALL!

But introduce more and more. But Hal in all.

Green Lanter 1 = Hector and Parallaz
Green Lantern 2 = Star Saphire and Sinestro
Green Lantern 3 = Sinestro Corps and Atrocitus

Corndog @ It makes me laugh when I remember all them Nolan lovers saying SUPES wasn't in Nolan's World haha!

DC Universe dude, it'll happen. :)

End of the day WB are the boss, still can't wait!

It will happen a la LOTR: Two Towers & LOTR: Return of The King/ Matrix Rel & Matrix Rev.

It could be cool. I would doubt they do a solo film with Stewart. I see Kyle coming to play in the end of a third installment.

As for Them releasing it the same summer as Batman 3, it doesn't matter as long as they are a month or 2 apart. Like Marvel is doing with Thor and Captain America. If they do that would be 3 big DC hitters the same year.

Batman 3
Superman Re-Boot
Green Lantern Sequel

Possibly the Super-Max film with Green Lantern but I doubt it lol

I'm a take Poni's word on this... i ain't a bettin' man. Especially considering WB/DC's past decade.

CDB, yeah Its doubtful that Supes will show up, but The Flash has to, I mean he just HAS to!...doesn't he?

But yeah, its not set in stone by any means. I mean plans can change, but until we hear anything official its just rumor.

Hopefully they introduce John Stewart in GL 1 (just as a regular guy at first) and then in GL 2 or 3 John Steward becomes the 2nd Green Lantern..And then in the JLA movie we have Hal AND John Stewart + all the other JLA heroes.
LucasMend
LucasMend - 8/5/2010, 10:56 AM
That seems cool, unless we dont have to wait 3 or 4 years if the movie be good, and hoping for a DC universe get starting on GL with easter eggs, etc.

I dont care about Deadpool, I just want X-Men and all characters involved on the franchise back on Marvel Studios, then I will be interessed.

Ror- I sure damn hope so! They'd be retards not to bring him in soon! And it better be as good if not better than John Shipp's series goddamnit!!! Hell, they could even keep the suit! It was AWESOME!!!

How about we skip all of these sequels and just make 'Kingdom Come' a trilogy the likes of 'Lord of The Rings'?
blueorangeny
blueorangeny - 8/5/2010, 11:02 AM
@ Leee777 - I agree

Let's not start this shit again about Nolan and his universe. Shit changes and new ideas are forged, first Supes wasn't in his playing field, now he's over looking it. At the end everything will be combined to the best of it's ability and reality. DC/WB wouldn't be creating 2 different Bats and Supes so one can fit one version and the other will fit JLA. That will just be complete bs, waste of time and possible loss.
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 8/5/2010, 11:04 AM
How about indeed! Give this man a job at WB! I dunno man, thinking big is not a studio's strong point(Marvel being a notable exception), they like to take baby steps!

In other news, you guys hear that the American Werewolf In London remake now has a writer? And he's the hack that wrote that Jim Carey shitsplat, The Number 23! WHY!

blueorangeny - 8/5/2010, 11:06 AM
@ superdog - what movies does he have booked?

It seems like Ryan has locked up his future with DC, at least for the next 3 - 5 years.

To the Marvel heads wanting Deadpool, rather then focusing on that you all should focus on having MARVEL take back their character rights. They already got back Punisher, it's a start.
DasBoot
DasBoot - 8/5/2010, 11:06 AM
This is the best news I've heard all day! One step closer to getting the rights back to Marvel! Does anyone understand how the rights work? Would Fox lose the rights to that character considering he'll be a spin off from Borigins, and they're going to have Borigins part 2 come out for sure? Damn I wish I was a lawyer lol

This would be cool but I have to agree with Shaman and take our man Poni's info on this one. He is after all the mole within the Green Lantern set. ;}

Or is that pain in the ass on the set?

Or a thief in the night?

@Pietro Filipponi Yeah I understand they won't actively go after the rights, but I'm wondering if the rights will expire for Deadpool if they keep making Wolverine movies. The way I've understood things is that if the studio keeps making movies within a certain span of time, then they keep the rights. But if that is the case, does the same thing apply to spin off movies too?
