Jackie Earle Harley is Sinestro in "Green Lantern" Film?

The actor who brought Rorschach to life in "Watchmen" is rumored to be the front-runner as the villain in the Green Lantern film

According to "Ain't it Cool" news, the actor who fans praised for his performance as Rorschach in Zack Snyder's "Watchmen", is rumored to be the lead in portraying the villain Sinestro in "Green Lantern."

The site also reports that, Superman is potentially making a cameo in the superhero film.

If both of these turn out to be true, DC seems to be taking a page from the Marvel universe by connecting characters from different comic books in feature films.

Supposedly, the rumor was passed down from a reliable source working on the film.

Green Lantern, to be directed by Martin Campbell and starring Ryan Reynolds, is targeting a June 17, 2011 release date.

Whispers68: Sinestro is nearly 6'2 and Jackie is 5'5...hmmm. This will definitely get die hard fans a bit bothered but that's life. I didn't make this up...it's posted on two sites. Two rather well respected sites. I'm not posting to impress my girlfriend, dad or cousins. If the rumor turns out to be untrue, we can cough it up like any other casting rumors that turn out to be incorrect information.

Well it sounds interesting... and he is a good actor ... But since he is so short he should be one of the guardians .... not sinestro ... To bad you not trying to impress anyone... ;-)

Good actor but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO to SIN, he's too [frick]ing small plus he's in the DC series HUMAN TARGET too!!!

I like ur picks better leee777,

@ tea ur right is was mentioned a while ago that Clark would make a cameo appearance. I still think this movie is the reason why everything is stalling. DC wants to properly place certain characters in this movie before they do any other films. Which is a good thing. So i wouldn't be surprised if the flash made a cameo as well.

"I'm not posting to impress my girlfriend, dad or cousins." lol, classic.

Whispers68-- That of him up there, he looks like a pink Alfred Pennyworth. So maybe Michael Caine could play ol' Sinny. Yeah, no.

@ Betty

LOL. It's a rumor so I had to make it clear in separating myself from the guy and his Beyonce being cast as Wonder Woman situation to impress his beloved girlfriend. I like the site, don't want my integrity ruined for false information

But like you guys are saying, I really don't see casting Jackie as a good idea, not because of acing abilities because he can play a role such as this...but the physical features don't mesh well. Yes, Hollywood can create the visual enhancements but just check for someone else

Clint Eastwood is tall enough to play sinistro Harharhar

It better be a rumor. He's an awesome actor, but hell no to him as Sinestro.

That role belongs solely to Jason Isaacs.

He could probably pull it off but Hugo would be better

This is a lot like the Hugh Jackman for Wolverine thing.

He made a great Wolverine, but yeah... he's too tall.

I am sure that Hayley will pwn that role if he gets it.
But yeah, he's too short lol

same thing.

I agree with DarthMulder. I know he would do a fantastic job with the role, but there are people who are better for it. Save his talents for something else.

He definitely has the acting abilities for the part and as I mentioned before, Hollywood can perform visual enhancements to make him appear taller, not 6'2 but taller than 5'5.

Or they can simply overlook the height differentiation and make the film because they feel he is a good candidate for the sinister portrayal but I feel there are many others in Hollywood or waiting to break into Hollywood that can perform this role with both the ability and physical characteristics.

If this is true, it almost makes up for casting Ryan Reynolds as GL.

Almost.

I had this idea forever ago!

But now that I think of it, Hugo Weaving might be better. Idk I'd be happy with either

Lol, you know they could always say that Korugarians are smaller than humans. Maybe even state Sinestro is very tall for a Korugarian, it might make Jackie feel good, poor little guy.

I could see Jackie rocking Sinestro though. He may not be the physical ideal for the role, but you can't say the guy doesn't have the acting chops to pull it off.

TEA @ Lol!!

ElBeaster @ ; )

Neroday @ FFS dude he's done two DC Characters already, if he gets this, he may as well do the whole DC Universe lol, plus again good quality actor but so is WEAVING and ISAACS, but he's too small too! ; D

Hayley would do a good sin. Hugo would probably fit the bill better though. Does it even matter with the height thing? I don't really care about that part, just Huge can be more "Evil".

Idris Elba = John Stewart

Milo Ventimiglia = Kyle Rayner

Dennis Haysbert = Kilowog

Dennis Quaid = Alan Scott

I don't think Sinestro should be the name of the individual that becomes Sinestro. It should be a moniker that he is dubbed after betraying the corp. This way, it would seem ludicrous that they gave a guy named Sinestro a ring! LOL
LexLuthor
LexLuthor - 10/18/2009, 12:58 AM
Honestly who cares about the height difference????

Tom Cruise is like 4 feet tall and he's making movies...

He's a good actor and I'd be glad to see him as Sinestro.
The role calls for a good actor. If they pick a poor one the whole movie will suffer.

Hugo Weaving would be sweet too.

Oh and MovieTheaterLad... Tyrese shouldn't be in any movie whatsoever, aside from that nice picks.

If Michael Clarke Duncan can be in multiple CBM's why not JEH and Reynolds. I'm not really bothered by the height thing if it is such an issue they can do some Lord of THe Rings effects or just use camera angles like The Green Mile.

MPP-

Of course not. Please, give me some credit based on how long we've known each other on these pages. Steve??? Please! No, something a little more alien than that. Although, I'm coming across fewer and fewer Steves these days. ;-P

It wouldn't be the first time "canon" was breeched on film and it worked out to the benefit of the story as a whole. In fact, it has happened such that these type of things had gone on from film or TV and become accepted as canon in comicbook lore. The thing to avoid is breaking the general spirit or violating things specifically spoken of in the comics(i.e. Sinestro is from Korugar). Do we really know that Sinesto's mother gave him that name? No. But, we could expound on the reasoning of the name so that it didn't come across as goofy.

Apparently, his successor in the Corp. turns out to be his son, Soranik Natu. Perhaps a variant on that name? Furthermore, a little back story on his home planet of Korugar would add to the drama. That is, why he has totalitarian tendencies. Forgive me if my GL knowledge is limited. I've read his comics off and on. Right now I am reading Blackest Night.
