CBM scooper Jessi has just sent me this image from the set of Green Lantern. The pictures shows Ryan Reynolds, who plays the ring-slinging, intergalactic hero Hal Jordan, taking a bit of last minute direction from Martin Campbell, who's past credits include the James Bond 'rebbot' Casino Royale and Edge of Darkness starring Mel Gibson.

Though it doesn't show anything revealing about the scene that was being filmed, it's always fun to have another look at the ongoing production.

Green Lantern has just entered it's fifth week of production in New Orleans, LA, and will continue filming through August. It is currently scheduled for a June 2011 release.

Many thanks to Jessi for the image!

BTW, who do you think would win in a Thor vs Green Lantern fight?

Personally, I think Thor would beat the green crap out of GL.
GreenLanternVan
GreenLanternVan - 4/21/2010, 11:08 AM
GL would create a giant hammer & pound Thor with a replica of his own weapon.
Priest
Priest - 4/21/2010, 11:11 AM
He could replicate the shape, but not the power. Mjolnir would break that cheap replica with one hit.
Priest
Priest - 4/21/2010, 11:12 AM
And Thor could not call the Asgardians? You know, a bunch of gods?

Sir, you are mistaken. You see, GL will be so big, they'll call IM the GL of Marvel!
...post facto!

I remember years ago Wizard magazine made a top 10 superhero list. Thor was #2 with Silver Surfer being #1. Green Lantern wasn't even on it.

I found a website with the list: http://www.silver-surfer.us/Top10list/Top10List.htm

1997

Green Lantern's and Thor's powers are different now?
Priest
Priest - 4/21/2010, 11:23 AM
Multi, the list can't be from 1991 because it features Spawn and Spawn first appears in Spawn #1 (May 1992).

Does GL's power ring still needs to be recharged?
Priest
Priest - 4/21/2010, 11:38 AM
I read on wikipedia ( I know, not the most reliable source) That Mjolnir can absorb energy. Does that means that in theory, it could absorb the constructs made by the power ring? I think it is an interesting development.

So, the power ring doesn't have to be recharged anymore...and yellow is no longer a limitation anymore, right? ( I am not really a DC reader so my knowledge is limited). Does it haves any weaknesses or did they made the power ring into a Mary Sue item?
Phinehas
Phinehas - 4/21/2010, 11:40 AM
Wait! What? The 24 hour ring-charge is lifted? Does he not carry a battery (lantern) around anymore? The ring has infinite power?

"...and yellow is no longer a limitation anymore, right?"

I know from Johns' Secret Origin, only Hal has overcome yellow by sheer will.

Multi-- What if Teabag had green lantern's ring? lol
Priest
Priest - 4/21/2010, 11:54 AM
Still, Mjolnir could absorb the power ring's constructs or force fields or it could generate Anti-Force (energy created to counter-act another force).

Besides that, Thor haves thousands of years of fighting experience.

Anyway, this conversation is reaching epic levels of geekiness. Let's say they are evenly matched. :p

Perhaps we should make a poll.
Phinehas
Phinehas - 4/21/2010, 11:54 AM
What about his lantern? If he has a constant charge, what is its purpose now?

Betty
I suppose that their would be stockpiles of police reports of sexual assualts thorought the greater England area.
